  1. Back to last night's game, that was a pure dismantling and domination by the Preds. What an awesome team Nashville has when they're healthy. I can't see any team from the East (minus Buffalo) having a chance against the likes of Nash/Anaheim/SJ right now.
  2. He makes $0.9 mill less than Gerber, both guys signed 3 year deals this off-season. I wanted to confirm a suspicion I had, so I pulled goalie salaries from TSN. I don't think that Gerber's contract is all that out of whack in comparison with the rest of the league. No, he is not playing well. Yes, he is over-paid. No, he is not currently worth that kind of money - especially as a back-up. But $3.7M isn't in the same realm of cap usage as a Khabibulin at nearly $7M. The bargains on this list are guys nearing the end of long-term deals (Kiprusoff, Vokoun) or just coming off rookie deals (Lehtonen, Miller). Goalies making $1M or more: Nikolai Khabibulin $6.75 million Roberto Luongo $6 million Jose Theodore $5.5 million Olaf Kolzig $5.45 million Martin Brodeur $5.2 million Evgeni Nabokov $5 million Rick DiPietro $4.5 million Dwayne Roloson $4 million Jean-Sebastien Giguere $3.99 million Manny Fernandez $3.75 million Martin Gerber $3.7 million Miikka Kiprusoff $3.5 million Cristobal Huet $3 million Marc Denis $2.8 million Ryan Miller $2.6 million Tomas Vokoun $2.28 million Martin Biron $2.128 million Curtis Joseph $2 million Kevin Weekes $2 million David Aebischer $1.9 million Andrew Raycroft $1.8 million Kari Lehtonen $1.5 million Jocelyn Thibault $1.5 million Alex Auld $1.475 million John Grahame $1.4 million Manny Legace $1.4 million Vesa Toskala $1.375 million Ilya Bryzgalov $1,362,500 Tim Thomas $1.2 million Robert Esche $1 million Antero Niittymaki $1 million
  3. Denis is having a HORRIBLE season. That wouldn't be much of an upgrade!
  4. Wish I could watch this guy play every night.
  5. Off topic, but you'll be happy to hear that a Mt. A kid is doing a killer job booking George's right now. The shows we get in Moncton pale in comparison. I'd be out there nearly every weekend if I had a willing travel companion.
  6. Sorry to have led you astray. The guy that promoted their shows out East told me they were wildly inconsistent, but the hits far outnumbered the misses.
  7. They're fucking insane. Read my review. http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/229797/post/323381/
  8. If a line like "in the wink of Borchevsky's eye" can't bring the Leaf, Habs and Sens fans together for a brief moment... I dunno what can.
  9. "Glory Days" Courtesy Dan Tolensky at hockeybuzz.com I had a friend was a little hockey player back in '93 He could score the biggest goals Until he lost his spleen Saw him the other night at the ACC He was in box with Burns and Berg He was inside sitting down having a few drinks but all Nik kept saying was "Unbelievable" Glory days well they'll pass you by Glory days in the wink of Borchevsky's eye Glory days, glory days Well then there's Wendel, he lives up the block back in 93 he could turn all the boy's heads Sometimes on a Saturday I'll stop by and watch The Passion Returns wishing Kerry Fraser was dead He and my boy Dougie well they both retired I guess it's few years gone by now We just sit around talking about the old times, he says when he feels like crying he starts laughing thinking about that wraparound goal Glory days well they'll pass you by Glory days made Foligno jump so high Glory days, glory days Now I think I'm going down to the ACC tonight and I'm going to drink till I get my fill And I hope when I get old I don't sit around thinking about 1993 but I probably will Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture a little of the glory of, well time slips away and leaves you with Belak and Kilger and great stories of glory days Glory days well they'll pass you by Glory days Anderson sure could fly Glory days, glory days Glory days well they'll pass you by Glory days Potvin was quite a guy Glory days, glory days
  10. We need an RDS appreciation thread (or forum??). Their commentators may be even bigger homers than the HNIC crew, but damned if any channel out there shows as much hockey as RDS does. Seriously, I don't think TSN even comes close. They air every Habs game, a handful of Sens games, and a another handful of random games of interest (often involving Pittsburgh).
  11. On another topic, here's a great comparison: McCabe + Kaberle + Kubina = $15 mil/yr Pronger + Niedermayer + Beauchemin = $14.65 mil/year Anaheim 24-3-6 = 54 pts Toronto 14-13-5 = 33 pts
  12. Nope. The CBC's english and french language deals were separate. RDS has had all Habs coverage (including Saturday nights) for a couple years now.
  13. I'd guess Post War is going to make a lot of critics' year end lists.
  14. The Sens are going to have to learn to win some games without Redden. It looks like this is going to be one of those groin injuries that bothers him on and off all season.
  15. Yup. Portland, ME on Halloween 2005 - the only merch they had was posters from the previous night in Northampton. And this one takes the cake, this June playing the post-show for MMJ at the Boston F'n Pops, they had a couple odds + ends of t-shirts and the poster from the previous weekend in California.
  16. Crazy career Petra Haden has had. She did a duo album with Bill Frisell a couple years back.
  17. Whose PC did you stay logged into this weekend?
  18. Now would be a perfect time for NorthernWish to chime in with his stories about trying to buy merch from the Slip and how they never have any with them. Twice in a row I saw shows where they actually had posters with them. Unfortunately, both times the poster was for the previous night's show.
  19. Ollie belongs in the 'Mike's fanboy' forum.
  20. I think it could be a good signing. Chicago's playing an 'offense first' game, why not add a proven veteran scorer than may (or may not) have some gas in the tank. Look what Selanne's doing this year!
  21. I thought it was funny that Healey never referred to the beverage in question by name. Sort of bizarre in this day and age of 'sports drinks' and health consciousness to see a marquee player drinking a can of coke on the ice!
  22. I've awoken Tissue Man today! We need you around Rich Stadium more often.
