    BEER!!

Had some very tasty and strong beers last night. I only bought two of the St. Peters and I wished I had grabbed more. Awesome beer in my opinion, 6.2%, pretty dark red, hint of chocolate and malt. The bottles are the same style they sold in 1770. Another tasty beer from great lakes, strong (6%) with a spicy & orange flavour. Nice beer but I wished I had drank it last. Not sure I would buy it again, but it certainly wasn't bad. Had 3 Fuller's Vintage Ales for breakfast this morning (4am) and man, they pack a punch to start the day. 8.5% and really tasty. Nice breakfast beer. There was another UK winter ale I had last night, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called. Those Fuller's really do set the pace..lol :chug:
  2. My great grandfathers both served and died in WWI and my grandfathers both served during WWII. One never made it home. My great grandfather on my Mom's side is buried in France and in 1997 while I was on a month long backpacking journey through Europe I was able to visit his grave on Nov. 11th and place a wreath at his stone for my Mom and Grandmother - they always wanted to do it themselves but never got/had the chance. My little brother currently serves in the QRAF Scotland, UK and thankfully has returned from 4 trips to Afghanistan, and 3 to Iraq. It scares the shit out of me, but I'm proud as hell. Thank you, to those who serve, and those who have served, and especially those fallen while in service. In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. ...We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders Fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders Fields. Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army
  3. I'm glad computers were invented solely on how they played a key role in me being able to still walk and not lose use from my waist down due to the cancer that was in my spinal column killing the nerves. Besides the computers used in the medical equipment, they also allowed very quick communication (text, voice and graphical) between my doctors in different cities to help aid in diagnosing my condition and determining the best course of action promptly, as my condition was time sensitive - two weeks or a month later and I would have been a paraplegic. Hell yeah, I'm glad they were invented.
  4. Next thing you know there will be a version for the text/chat generation using "wut" (what) "gud" (good) or "omg".

  7. I've seen a few different posts with a list of the downloads - a couple deleted off deadnet in the comments below the d/l & on the GOTV site. Looks like he had problems getting the entire Playing In The Band as well, his download is only 15 mins long (both are the same). Seems a lot of people had that problem apparently. The actual download is 28:56 m/s. Thanks though, haven't checked the past ones other that that one so far.
  8. Sugaree Warfield, San Francisco, CA- 10/13/80 This version of Sugaree was recorded on the 14th and penultimate show at the Warfield during the three week run of shows that featured three sets of music night, one acoustic and two electric. After these shows at the Warfield, the band took their show on the road for two nights in New Orleans, followed by eight shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
  9. Easy Wind Winterland, San Francisco, CA - 12/31/70 This meaty version of Easy Wind features great playing by everyone, particularly Bob and Jerry’s guitar solos, as well as Pigpen’s soulful harmonica playing, but overall this is one of the finest versions of this song ever performed. Mixed from this 16-track master recordings, this is some of the finest-sounding 1970 Dead you’ll hear.
  10. Well, don't count yourself out just yet - it seems the song is only 10:41 after I downloaded it. But the player on the site showed 27 mins when I pushed the slider to the end. I'll stick with my early 73. [color:red][edit to add] Well apparently my d/l was bad, and didn't completely finish. The online player was right after all.
  11. I first thought early 73 (feb), but I'm not sure now. it's a 27 min version, if that helps anyone's memory.
  12. My guess is feb. 1981 -------------- [color:red][edit to add] Althea Hartford Civic Center, Hartford, CT- 3/14/81 This was recorded on the excellent Spring Tour of 1981, which featured to magnificent nights at Madison Square Garden, the famous University of Maryland show with the super-long Bird Song, and the end of March jaunt over to Europe for a batch of shows at London’s Rainbow and the 3/28/81 show in Essen, West Germany with The Who.
  13. Dark Star Fillmore West, SF, CA- 6/5/69 Another classic mid-1969 version of Dark Star, similar in tone and energy to the versions played in February-March, 1969 at the same venue, one of which (2/27/69) was included on Live/Dead. This Dark Star would later go into the “typical†(oh, the days when THAT was typical…) sequence of St. Stephen>The Eleven>Lovelight.
  14. I made my account and the download option was to the right of the player.
