  1. Sweet. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the heads up.
  2. I've got a DVD of the July 1st 2007 Saskatoon (late) show. Be great to have some footage from the others.
  3. http://bruinslegends.blogspot.com/2006/06/stan-jonathan.html
  4. I won tickets for Guns & Roses through Scene. Should be interesting to say the least. I wish it had been Dylan tickets though.
  5. Anyone know what the earliest you can pick up 'will-call' tickets at Copps? I called the box office about a half hour ago but didn't get an answer. [color:red][edit to add] I found the answer online it's 3 hours prior to the event on sundays. I guess I should have looked online first.. lol Box Office Hours: Monday-Friday: 9:00AM - 4:30PM Saturday: 9:00AM - 1:30PM Sunday & Holidays: Closed Sun/Holiday Event Day opens 3 hrs prior on event days - ticket office will remain open until 1 hour after showtime.
  6. They have the same type of pop up ads. From reading the AVG forum I found out that it started with v.8.5. A quick google search of "AVG pop up ads" will show many people complaining about it, just like Avira. What ya want for free though, right? They are easy enough to disable though. The only thing I didn't like about AVG (installed it on my ma's pc) was the amount of resources it uses compared to others and the slower scan speeds. Otherwise it's got a good rep. To disable the Avira ads To disable the AVG ads:
  7. Seconded on spybot. I also run Malwarebytes weekly to double check. Another program I use (but paid for) is CleanMy PC - Registry Cleaner . Great program for removing all the left over registry crap from uninstalled programs etc.
  8. Avira can be a bit confusing at first in terms of scheduling, but once you have that figured out it's pretty straight forward. I like that you can't disable it unless you terminate the process or uninstall it, which is good since no virus or other program can disable it. [edit to add] One thing that I guess some folks could find annoying is a pop up advertisement for the pay version that occurs now & then, you can just click close and it goes away. The only time this seems to happen though is when the computer is idle so it never shows up suddenly when your working or browsing. But, that can be a deal breaker for some.
  9. I just chug. I don't need a reason.
  10. That's the one Booche, thanks.
  11. http://www.avira.com/en/pages/index.php http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download I use avira (free version), low resource use, works great and is really reliable. Both are good in my opinion, and are compatible with win 7.
  12. Anti-spyware is included in win 7, not sure about vista as I've never used it. (it's not all that good though) The way hackers pick apart all of M$ operating systems, an included anti-virus would probably only be as good as the already included firewall, and they have never been very good, let alone very effective. Adding an anti-virus would only contribute to bloating, and probably not be all that secure, in my opinion.
  13. Oh I understand, you feel the people who pay to go to school, work hard to learn, & then develop the software should just give it to you for free and not be compensated for their hard work. Yet another instance where you want something free at the cost of others.
  14. Really? You should do some simple research on security software. There are many free antivirus programs out there for the home user. Currently two of the top recommended programs of 2009 offer free versions that are more then adequate for the home user. Avira - I'm currently using this one and it's great. Extremely low resource use, updates regularly and catches everything, even the slightest questionable file, and/or sketchy webpage. http://www.avira.com/en/pages/index.php Avast - another highly recommended and solid program. I was using this until I tried Avira. http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
  15. Change stations. Mornings, I listen to CBC while having my coffee and scanning the net, since the earthquake I have yet to hear the Leno vs Conan deal be the lead over Haiti, or even provincial/Canadian news for that matter.
  16. Agreed Jaimoe. The saving grace here in Hamilton has been CH still airs local news. Cable 14, although it has it's merits doesn't really provide adequate local news coverage. Then again, that's what CH is supposed to do.
  17. I look forward to many things, but I'm realistic and understand it all starts with single steps. It's too late, it already has. Refer to your original post.
  18. Personally, I find it hard to have constructive discussions when conspiracy theories are brought into it. "Easy solutions", "Simple fixes"? I don't think there are any. There are however many simple and feasible beginnings to making things better everyone could take on without having all that big of impact on our lifestyles or having to bust our wallets trying to achieve. Working to reduce our own carbon footprint overall is the top most, in my opinion.
  19. Yeah, I wondered that also. Sports like hockey, LAX or soccer for example, fair a better due to whistles etc, for "in play" action. Although certainly not 2-3 hours worth of viewing time of course, but they are pretty constant. Baseball on the other hand may be the runner up in my opinion. I'd be interested in seeing stats for the others, especially baseball.
  20. Saw this posted on another board. A Wall Street Journal study that shows during a football game that on average the ball is in play for only 11 minutes. Breakdown for those who don't like reading walls of text. On average:3 hours viewing time67 minutes of players standing around or huddling60 minutes of commercials17 minutes of replays11 minutes the ball is actually in play http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704281204575002852055561406.html
