    snow!

we have had an average winter here on the rock....how about your city. snow
  2. are you joking? yeah harper is really jumping on the bandwagon, with emissions down by 2050, that will really settle things. there will always be two sides (at least) to any arguement. however MOST of the worlds "scientist" would say global warming is FACT. the debate my friend,( which has been raging for a while) is over. its now time to do something about it. i was about to testify in a trial (caregivers plead guilty right before I had to testify), for a horrible case of child abuse. the defendents however had a 'prominent' physician who was going to testify that this was not necessary abuse. my point being, here is a crime against, a completely innocent child. the victim has a 'face', and it is personalized. yet someone for $$$ was going to be on their side. So when there is a 'faceless'generalized victim ie. humans, plants, animals, with a lot of money involved in CHANGE, it does not surpirse me in the least there are naysayers. the movie is drivel. annoyingly as well they use 'man', instead of human. their vocabulary stuck with their mindset, somehwere in the distant past. oh yeah, let's reach the farthest points of our imagination and say 'they' are right, and there is no global warming. should we then NOT 'implement policy' to clean up pollution? ie. what about human health, that is affected by these same emmisions?
  3. was gonna post the same thing.. into the mysitc with warren, and karl denson on flute was sweet on jamcruise... its strange, i've heard some beautiful dead covers. yet phish covers never seem to be really good.
  4. djmelbatoast, maybe i'll see ya!as for island living...i think i got a hold on things . good to hear some encouring words about victoria meggo. but i got to say i love the east. its going to be hard to leave. someone downtown st. johns playing guitar told me once, (paraphrased) ' yeah their friendly out west, but truly kind out east'. i know its a pretty big stereotype, but having spent a bit of time out there, the vibe is for sure different. better/worse/different? i'll find out soon enough.
  5.  i also agree with birdy. packaging drives me nuts. we can land on the moon, but cant design a garbage bag to hold garbage bags? instead we get a box. or useless plastic. its really quite absurd.
  6. backbacon...where you at? or as they say here..where you to? been a while. hope you are doing super fine.
  7. so i'm moving to victoira, b.c. five years on the rock. two weeks after i go... Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan are playing back to back dates!!!!!! imagine if they play together! anyhow i don not think its posted yet dylan atlantic dates
  8. just got that audio recorder for free. pretty easy to use. could i guess now could record those streaming SB from GD archive. but i probably wont as i just find there is such a plethora of music out there now...compared to years ago, when i would sit at home recording radio. boiler rat...why are you called that?
  9. yeah, same as above. thanks both, for taking the time to explain this stuff. really THANKS! i'm going to give it a shot. db a whole new world...
  10. ok...time to move into this century. but a beginner questin. I have only downloaded music BT torrents before. i presume if you download a tv show, its tv? and if its tv can you convert to mp3?
  11. just got back from this flick. aside from the fact you keep thinking you know the lead actors from a show somewhere...it is pretty bad.
  12. awesome man, with no cable i never see it anymore. thanks for the link! oh yeah...i also like KT Tunstall even though i feel she is kinda top 40ish. KT by the way is there anyway to save these songs, those from the video, onto your computer? ie. so then you can load them to your ipod?
  13. it is for sure a fun night. i have the manager/guitarist contact info if anyone wants it.
  14. awesome. thanks guys. back to the future tomorrow.
  15. i know there was a discussion here a while ago. anyhow i am moving and want to back up my whole computer. i am mostly useless with computer stuff and want the simplest one so i can just load software click one button. i do not want to have to find all the files i want to save. does this exist and what would the best thing be?
  16. o.k. got to love the rumor mill. a friend of phish's accountant...says the money is dwindling. their biggest asset is their stage w. lights...and they rent that out sometimes (STS9 redrocks etc). anyhow he says the money will be gone in the next two years....then? reunion tour??? p.s. take this for what its worth, nearly nothing, but a spark of a dream for a show...
  17. we have a gaming, food, sports, and video forum. i seriously had no idea...
  18. o.k. i know this is not the place to forward stuff, but i really found this funny. moderate it out if need be.... When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ... uphill BOTH ways yadda, yadda, yadda And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet . If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter .with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there! There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister! We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE! When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed! Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You cou ld only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards! And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire .. imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot. That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980! Regards, The over 30 Crowd (Send this to someone you'd like to make smile, whether they are under 30 or not.)
  19. d/jango SAId """The presenter was an idiot. Who was giving this talk on childhood? I didn't understand the rest of the post, really, but I thought 'my hearts not broken anymore' was tragically beautiful (beautifully tragic?).""""" man i can never get the quote thing right when quoting a quote or unquoting a quote. yeah...the two are connected only in a 'humanity' type of way... i just added it in, as i didn't want to start a whole new thread. the talk was given by a pediatrician...but to her defence she was talking about all these theories of childhood put forth by people . so the viewpoint might not have been shared by herself.
  20. i went to a talk today on the concept of childhood. at some point a slide pops up saying children/humans are not 'animals' because of a myriad of reasons all to do with cognitive functioning and ability. i think this is b.s. we are a seperate species because of it, but all species have some crazy abilities ie. change colour, run real fast, etc. does anyone not think we are animals? on a side note... i was waiting to weigh this girl today, and the girl who was on the scale comes up to the girl and says i'm ..... The girl waiting says i'm .... but did not speak clearly at which point the other girl turned her back and walked away. the waiting girl called out 'my hearts not broken anymore' (she just had surgery to repair a congenital heart defect). i guess she could of just been bragging, or it could of been more 'why cant we play, i'm fixed now'. anyway i found it interesting.
