    QOTD

in the last week i had three dreams involvoing getting chased by animals....bears, tigers and lions. im glad i dont live by a zoo!
  2. Funkybeats and Willy those posts made me laugh out loud! although i'm old and isolated, i can still download. most people i think are on this board becassue they have been 'there'. and being 'there' made them come back for more, and hence wound up in this 'community'. phish took me 'there' consistently. there is a void in my life, as to me there is a void of jambands. For me 'jam' music is an essential catalyst on my road of spirituality. while the source is truly differnt for everyone...eg. nickelback (and im serious) , bluegrass, etc. jambands are lacking. what jamband can fill an areana and get that vibe of twentythousand people vibrating on the same plane? i am a jamhead, waiting the next jamband. it will come, but for me the time is not now. (p.s.) the best show i recently saw was matisyahu in montreal.
  3. Maybe the people "grasping for dear life" dont lack a personal identity but have the 'scene' as part of their identity. this is not a bad thing. at different points in my life, being a dead/phish head was one of my main defining characteristics, however please take that as a whole (eg. willing to drive 36 hours to show, wants to meet crazy, kind and all types of people, open-minded etc). People grasp often for what they love. the effort alone could be seen as an extension of a foundation, as easily as it can be looked at as a leap from shaky ground. anyhow i dont even know if i made any sense. i agree a lot with what stonemountain said. makes me wonder if im getting old too. nahhhh! as for the dancing. i too dont think torontonians dont dance becasue they see 'bigger' shows. most people here probably have seen big shows and still dance. i think its the pollution.
  4. http://www.archive.org/details/gd1990-03-15.28293-sbeok.shnf Phils 50th b-day show.... great show,....ok quality here...but nothing compared to this show i had on my old maxwell xl II, china>rider, and terrapin>turtle jam are my highlights...
  5. that was funny daveyboy! orientated Function: adjective Usage: chiefly British from askoxford.ocm "Which is the correct spelling: 'oriented' or 'orientated'? It really doesn't matter: it's a matter of personal taste. Orientated is currently preferred use in general British use. Oriented is prevalent in technical use, and in the US."
  6. great thread...thought i'd hop on board. one of my core beliefs is the interconnectedness of everything. that includes thoughts. so many people here seem to be so 'science' orientated, as in if you have a certain number of events, some outcomes will happen by probablilty alone, and if you cant prove it, it does not work. well there are a billion examples of things that we prove the existence of today that could not be shown, last year, a century ago, etc. so maybe in time will come proof, hand in hand with a greater understanding and power to use thoughts to invoke action. maybe thoughts are indeed physical and we just cant see them yet. kinda like looking for a virus in the year 600 AD. sometimes you just gotta 'will it'.
  7. happy 30th! keep on keeping on.
  8. saw him at the docks a while back now, thought it was a great show...although i do remember them not getting onstage until midnight or so. as for miami, ...i agree , i seek phish for phish...didnt really dig it. while i havnt seen that many additons to the group on stage the only one i truly remember enjoying was when the boston choir joined them nye/96. wow, over a decade ago...im old.
  9. Been on this rant for a while now....nice to see the tides turning...as many on this board use the term 'gay', yet dont seem to be piping up now....this is from my post..a couple years ago... 08/30/05 11:44 PM - Post#261052 So why do people still feel the need to call things 'gay' or use words like 'faggot'? (i ask this to those of you on this board who use it in your posts) is this actually funny? to me the political correctness movement was a good thing. i mean when someone says something that is different is 'gay' a sterotype is projected. do the grade fours and fives who say something is gay realize this? i doubt it. but it does penetrate on an unconscious level, equating gay with negativity . disrupting the psyche. propagating sterotype and unacceptance. if a child grows up without 'this' (this being the thoughts in my head right now) even entering their mind, i feel it could have tremendous positive influence on uniting the world? hyperbole? maybe. but all big change stems from somewhere. for the most part i do not see people writing ethnicity based wisecracks. is there a difference? somewhere along the line did it become o.k. to stereotype some groups and not others? If a friend makes a comment and you know their heart sparkles with love, kindness and acceptance i can see why someone would laugh. it is an intimate setting, with mutual understanding. this, the internet, is like shouting to the world, and for what it's worth i think we should be careful what we shout. http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/224560/post/261052/hl//

  12. dont buy into the hype...; i bought an ipod recently after i lost my rio mp3 player while hiking. itunes would not load on my computer and when it did it crashed my other music program , containing all my playlists in a very nice organized way (musicmatch jukebox, the one you pay for) ..uggghhhh. what a pain. itunes software compared to rio is horrible. currently for some reason it wont let me load anything new onto my ipod saying not enough space when there is. sorry had to rant when given the chance.
