  3. http://www.Nufunk.ca presents... SCIENTISTS OF SOUND (Halifax/Toronto) TUPPERWARE REMIX PARTY (Halifax/Toronto) & Saturday, February 4th, 2012 The Garrison 1197 Dundas St. Doors at 9pm show at 10 pm $12 advance tickets / $15 at the door Buy Tix Online: http://tktwb.tw/wF1pDi Facebook Link: http://on.fb.me/yz0R0O Scientists of Sound is a looping madness duo - all sounds are performed, recorded, and manipulated LIVE. http://www.scientistsofsound.com/ Dirty electro sounds in an improvisational original format that nobody else is doing… Live looping dance madness – in masks – and lab coats…with synched video and lights... This is the mantra for this Halifax based looping madness duo… Play sound – record sound – manipulate sound until it doesn’t sound like the original sound – and do it all over well crafted original dance tracks and thumping’ beats… this is Scientists of Sound. In the past year SOS have shifted from a side project from Craig Mercer and Aaron Collier, members of the now defunct Jimmy Swift Band, into a bona-fide electro powerhouse on the Canadian music scene… They have performed in most major Canadian markets and have been winning fans coast to coast in the process… They have shared the stage with notable electro artists MSTRKRFT. Kid Koala, Boys Noise, Thunderheist, Skratch Bastid, and more… Their recent tour during which they performed a selection of Daft Punk, Justice, MSTRKRFT, and Deadmau5 tracks in addition to their own thumping originals packed clubs and dance floors across the country. Their debut EP Wealth and Hellness hits I-Tunes in early June of 2011. Download this live ep: www.facebook.com/scientistsofsound "People were falling over, they were crying, they were puking. It was chaos." - The Dalhousie Gazette "Scientist of Sound sustained their set as if possessed by electronic deities, the crowd cast as their exorcist, and the resulting noise – purification." - Ca Va Cool Tupper Ware Remix Party http://www.facebook.com/tupperwareremixparty The four cosmic entities that comprise TWRP (also known in longhand as Tupper Ware Remix Party) have inhabited the bodies of four earth-dwelling humans, and have been playing danceable space-rock since their conception in 2007. In this time, TWRP has truly established a name for itself as a party band to be reckoned with. The specific style of the band's music might be described as the love-child of Daft Punk and Iron Maiden - born in a black hole. Their genre-blurring style has found a way into the hearts and gyrating hips of many, and this is shown through a long, eclectic list of shows dating back several years. Over the past year TWRP's profile has grown exponentially, exemplified by showcases at Canadian Music Fest, Halifax Pop Explosion, Evolve Festival, East Coast Music Awards, and has been featured on BPMTV as well as CityTV's series "Canada's Got Talent". They have shared the stage with the likes of Twin Shadow, Cancer Bats, and Pretty Lights. Frequent touring of eastern and central Canada has garnered a loyal and ever-growing following, and the band regularly sells out clubs across their native Atlantic Canada. Additionally, a recent relocation to Toronto has already proven extremely fruitful, with a residency at a popular downtown bar, and a rapidly expanding fanbase in the country's largest music market. more info www.nufunk.ca

  9. Lots of criticism about the New Year's Run. I was there for the 29th and it was amazing to see them at MSG, we could feel the energy of the crowd... and although there wasn't a moment that stood out as a wow moment - still was a solid show. Friends, PT boards and Mr Miner (http://phishthoughts.com/) have been trashing these shows. IMO a bad night at Phish is still better than almost any other concert experience out there, but having only seen the one show and not as critical as some - I still enjoyed myself.
  10. People i talked to here in NYC who saw the show said it was incredible... I was at The New Deal at Highline, that was nuts.. big show! -j
  11. Pretty amazing show last night. They came out hot with The Sloth, YEM, Back on the Train & Moma Dance. Second set's Lifeboy brought the vibe down considerably, but was nice to hear, as I had never seen that one live. Mike's Song and especially Chalkdust Torture really amp'd it back up in the second set. Lots of people were saying it was a better show than the night before, more rocking out then atmospheric jams. Although that's what i like best of Phish, when the are way off course exploring some weirdness. I was surprised they didn't say one thing to the crowd the whole night, don't they usually say at least something small?

  17. Remembering Richard Clare "Rick" Danko (December 29, 1942 – December 10, 1999) Feel lucky to have met this old soul, playing at a small Greek club in the neighbourhood, I grew up in Etobicoke. Here's my favorite Christmas song - sung by Rick. Definitely going to sing this one for the family over the holidays.
