As a 4-piece act interpreting the catalog of the Grateful Dead, WCID have the luxury of musical space that comes along with a more "stripped down" approach. The Lizards make it possible to gain that experience in our own backyard, with many feeling it’s been a long time coming that a band can create a community in this country for such a style of music. The Lizards intend to show everyone that they, above all things, can once again bring together a congregation of like-minded people that all want the same things: good times, good music & sore legs! Rich has agreed to perform a special acousitc set of Phish songs for this show. Come and see what he has up his sleeve! ***** PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO A SPONSORSHIP FROM OUR FRIENDS AT WHERE HEADS MEET IN HAMILTON THE COST OF BUSSING PLUS ADMISSION HAS DECREASED TO $30! ***** (Tickets will be available at the door for $20)

Chester Miller (reggae/dancehall performer, songwriter) chestermillerreggae.moonfruit.com Chester Miller hails originally from Mandeville Jamaica and today resides in Toronto, Canada. He began singing at the age of sixteen, being greatly influenced by Leroy Sibbles and the late Crown Prince of Reggae music Dennis Emmanuel Brown, which led to him topping the UK pop charts with his first single "Saturday Evening" after only three years in the business. Chester is blessed with a remarkable voice which has made him no stranger to winning several Canadian Reggae Music Awards including Top male performer, Top male vocalist and Top Reggae CD/Album/Cassette award for his CD album "Never let Jah go" and a Juno nomination. Since the 1980's he has dominated the Canadian Reggae music scene performing at countless gigs and festivals alongside renowned artists such as, Ernest Ranglin, Steel Pulse, Third World, Judy Mowatt and Freddie McGregor to name a few. Chester Miller is a very accomplished, authentic and original song writer, which is greatly welcomed in a time when gun lyrics and slackness has tainted dancehall music. Chester's vocal delivery holds the depth, soul and raw emotion of any Motown soul artist along with the quality expected of the Reggae greats. Choppa Chop of Big Toes Hifi Choppa began learning the tools of his trade - 2 turntables and a mixer - in ’94. After spending considerate time in St.Lucia, beginning in 1996, his sets started leaning heavily in Reggae. Continuing his education in another field in Scotland, it is there that his sound “Big Toe’s Hi-Fi” was born and the first hi-fi was built. Choppa Chop ran his sound throughout Scotland and the UK for the next 10 years. There are now three chapters (Toronto area/New Mexico/Leeds), each with their own custom made soundsystem. Currently living in Mono, Ontario, Choppa Chop’s influence by Kilimanjaro and other sounds from that time is still evident in his format and style with a heavy emphasis on playing vinyl. The majority of his selections are presented and played in a unique juggling style. Roots, Rocksteady, Retro Dancehall, Foundation, Rub a Dub are what comprises Choppa’s sets. From the 70’s to what is being created right now. During his annual trips to Jamaica, Choppa has had the opportunity to play out at legendary venues; Dub Club, Jam One International, Wickie Wackie, Vinyl Thursdays (at Veggie Meals on Meals), Vinyl Sundays (in Drapers, Portland) and Edna Manley College. This gave him the chance to perform with, and alongside artists/selectors such as; Ranking Joe, King Harar, Gabre Selassie, Exile di Brave, Kazam Davis, Infinite, TJ (“Likkle Briggie”) and Nesbeth. 5. Do Right Presents Friday, December 8th, 2017 SoulJazz Orchestra (rescheduled!) 'Under Burning Skies' Album Release Party with special guests Tush DJ John Kong & Jason Palma Velvet Underground - 508 Queen St W, Toronto, ON Doors at 9:00PM Facebook Link / Tickets The Souljazz Orchestra album launch party has been rescheduled for Friday December 8th, 20117 at Velvet Underground after show cancellation due to power outage at Lee's Palace. The band's latest LP 'Under Burning Skies’ (Do Right Music / Strut Records) is currently sitting #1 on Earshot - The National International Chart (for 5 week straight and counting). After the disappointment of last Friday's show cancellation, the band is preparing for special explosive show in Toronto, their final show of the year, and have added DJs John Kong and Jason Palma to the bill. Since first arriving on the scene at the turn of the millennium, Ottawa's Souljazz Orchestra has never stopped pushing the limits of its signature sound: an explosive clash of soul, jazz and tropical styles, unleashed by majestic horns, pulsating keyboards, and earthquaking percussion. Turbulent times call for strong voices and the Souljazz Orchestra’s new set 'Under Burning Skies' packs a heavy lyrical punch, with wry observations and an urge for progressive change. Musically, the band continues to progress, recently incorporating ‘80s vintage synthesizers and early drum machines, bringing touches of lo-fi disco, boogie and electro to their trademark sound. Celebrating their 15th year, the three-time Juno nominated ensemble continues to be an unstoppable force. They have played to audiences across the globe and have shared the stage with Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, and Femi Kuti. The band is fresh off an incredible 22 shows in 10 countries European album release tour in October 2017. Prior their European tour, they were invited to CBC Toronto HQ to host a "First Play Live' concert for their fans, the full session was filmed live off the floor and available to watch here: http://ow.ly/1zOT30ghgtY
  6. Very sad to hear about BradM's passing. As many of you, I know BradM through the music scene. I've been fortunate to get to know tapers from all over the country, and consider myself a amateur taper, mostly recording the shows I produced for my own use. It's a rare breed of people who dedicate themselves to this craft and I think it's such an admirable and selfless job. The taping scene in Canada is so small and those few who do it really help preserve and document our Canadian culture - and above all so many memories. He mailed me copies of the shows he taped but were not authorized to be uploaded to the archive. I remember once that he wanted to check with one of the bands he taped first before burning me a copy, in spite of the fact that I was the promoter. Outside of his admiral dedication to taping, BradM was a sweet guy. I spent more than a few set breaks with him outside and really enjoyed his different point of views and quirky sense of humour. I'll always remember him enjoying a pint, standing next to his microphones at a show enjoying himself. Much love BradM, I hope you are out there taping the great big gig in the sky.
  7. RIP CHARLES BRADLEY love this rippin' tune that only came out a few months ago.
