  1. As long as Joey has things to say, D.O.A. will never die. Although punk ages about as gracefully as a prize-fighter.
  2. Who's the headliner? I'm assuming it's Kid since he's not a cover band, even if he riffs on many bands like Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels and the original Skynyrd.

That looks pretty cool! I'd love to hear that. Maybe some of the old SNL crew could start up their own band/jamband; Chevy Chase - keys Steve Martin - banjo Dan Akroyd - harp' date=' vocals[/quote'] Screw that. There was no better duo than: Paul Shaffer - keys Bill Murray - vocals
  4. Perhaps, but not to even allude to it seemed really curious and awkward. Campbell should have said something to the audience up-front instead of pretending that nothing happened earlier in the day. And don't forget Stajan appears to have no problem expressing himself if you read the Star article: http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/422839

Judd Apatow couldn't write anything funnier.

Winning a Jammy can't be too tough or a crowning career achievement. How many bands are there now in this genre? I can't name more than a handful and most are very long in the tooth. Where's Galactic on this list? Oh wait, they've gone rap. Anyone catch their performance on Conan this week? Brutal.
  7. Long Live Joey Shithead!
  8. Instead of getting a coup in last night's Jays game, play-by-play hack Jamie Campbell never once brought up Maurice's firing to Matt Stajan, whom he interviewed during the game. You'd think that he'd at least mention the biggest sports story on the year for the Leafs and ask the first player to be inteviewed after the firing his thoughts. And to add to Campbell's incompetence, the Star has an article with Stajan regarding his thoughts on Maurice and his firing in today's paper.
  9. Chuck's back at his post today. You can tell from his voice, he doesn't have the same energy. They are more than likely screening the hell out of his call too.

That list of winners proves once again why the jam scene is dying or dead.
  11. It's too early to trade AJ, especially when they'd still need another starter, and that starter would be unproven. Chacin? No fucking way. Convert another pitcher from the pen? That doesn't make me feel too comfortable. I agree that A.J. needs to be traded, but not now. Casey Jannsen is out for the season don't forget.
  12. If Rome was up against Bob, I'd probably flick the dial back and forth a lot, but listen to Bob more. He's more provovative and by far more controversial than Rome (but not as funny). I also like Bob's sidekicks like Brunt and Jim Kelly and I think Bobcat's 4-5pm phone-in slot is the only interesting phone-in segment on the entire Fan programming day. However, Bob is self-righteous and sexist and doesn't like hockey and is a class A jerk, but still, he's got a good show whether you like him or not.
  13. Yes they do. The guys they have now are aging and/or role players at best. The Clips have a good core group of guys and an excellent legit big man in the middle in Chris Kaman. TJ would suit that team.
  14. I highly doubt Dan Shulman can be lured away from his basketball duties for ESPN etc..., but he'd a great addition to the Raptors broadcasts, although I doubt he'd be able to stomach Leo's act for very long.
  15. I've been listening to Chuck's radio show today. They've smartly given Chuck time off, however Nelson Millman (station VP and general manager), sports director Doug Farraway and the vapid milfy Barb DiGuilio are fielding calls regarding Chuck and the firing of Maurice etc... Some callers are furious with Chuck and get cut-off immediately, but none of this is his doing.
  16. Don't forget about his washed-up Bride of Frankenstein wife.
  17. I've actually met Hogan and co-presented an award with him for the Radio and Television awards show back in the mid 90's. He's a nice guy, but he can drive me crazy on-air. Bobcat is a notable and notorious bastard, but he has by far the most compelling sports show on any broadcasting format in Canada.
  18. Really? Hogan is one of the best ones on the air! You are insane. The only thing that saved his sagging ratings was adding Mike Toth, and he's almost as annoying as Hogan himself - he has one of the lowest, if not the lowest time-slots on The Fan. At least I don't have to listen to the tandem of Hogan/Sean McCormick or Hogan/R.J. Broadhead anymore. Sportsnet corners the market on hack announcers. Don't you find Hogan's overly forced laugh maddening? He's actually a pretty knowledgeable guy, but he's got one of those personalities that can get under your skin.
  19. I don't think I've ever drank a whole case (or wanted to) in one sitting - that's badams territory.

    Tom Waits Tour

Whaddya mean Europe's not Canada? All I was saying is that all too many times Canadian dates get tacked on with European ones. I'm hopeful the same thing will happen this time.
  21. What kind of Sleemans? They have a couple of newer good beers like Original Draft and Pale Ale.

    Tom Waits Tour

I'm hoping for northern dates, but Canada often gets lumped into European tour news. Here's a blurb of the upcoming tour on Pitchfork: The wait for Tom Waits dates is over (zing!) As previously reported, the hard-to-hate Waits promised a spate of the things in the U.S. and Europe just as the season to mate comes to an end. Hey, that's great! And now Tom has delivered, revealing a 13-date North American trek, with European shows in the works. It's all supporting, er, Scarlett Johansson's soon-to-arrive record of Tom Waits covers? I guess?
  23. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this isn't the Pat Metheny Group? We'd hope. It's actually some band from Indiana.

    Tom Waits Tour

His tour will go on into well into the fall, so look for some real "northern dates" over the early part of the summer.
  25. It's ironic that the guy's love of PBR beer will more than likely hasten his demise into that very coffin... not to mention his beer of choice is not better than bottled urine.
