  1. Can't really grasp what that would be but this one has a special place. She walked up to me and asked me to dance...... L O L A Lola Still brings a smile to my face.
  2. We're stoked. Looks like there's all sorts of things to keep the little ones occupied with during the day as well. Kiddie pool, play room etc. Looking on Google Maps it looks like the Hotel should be a fairly easy walk to the Flats. Am I correct in assuming that.
  3. Thanks Kanada Kev and Basher, Looks like Irie Guy just "Bashed" the MArriott for $60 a night on the July 4th weekend in Downtown Ottawa. Woot Ding Ding Ding. Fuckin funny how nervous I was to hit that button.
  4. Did you get that rate for the weekend or are you staying on Sunday night only??? How do we know if we are getting a room with 1 bed or 2. We definitely need 2 beds. Lots of questions I know. Ok quick edit here based on your last response. You say If I dont get the MArriott you will show me how to bid again. But haven't I at that point already paid so to try it again seems whacked.
  5. Well I need to book a place in Ottawa for the Panic weekend. Ideally we want to be within walking distance to the Flats. Not sure how this name your price crap works. We want to check in late Friday night (probably After Midnight) I also need to make sure there is enough room for us and the kiddos. I can go ahead and reserve a room for $150 a night but I obviously would rather pay less. You don't know where you are staying until you pay correct??? How do I know it's close to where we want to be. Basher throw some advice my way. I see you got the Marriott for $60 a night. I'd love to stay at the Marriott as it seems to be nice and close so how do I make it happen.

Funny if you try and use it in a sentence "Eurythmics" without the leading "The" is hard to say. My ticket stub never had "The" on it. Sorry Dave Stewart.

Talking Heads in their prime. That would have been a show!!! Your Annie Lennox reference made me remember that I saw the Eurythmics back in 89 maybe at the Skydome and it was fantastic!!!
  8. Saw the CNE Show on this tour. It was David Bowie, Duran Duran and I think a 3rd act. This was a dream as David Bowie played a huge part of my earlier youth.
  9. Kudo's Jay, The Abyssinnians!!! That is friggin amazing. In some ways they are almost bigger than Bob himself.

  11. On The Loose! We were at that show at Buckeye as well. We had just found a kitten on the side of the Highway the day before when I stopped to read a map. Named him Jack Straw. Got back to our campsite at the KOA to find our tent flattened and full of water. Ended up having to drive nearly 1:30 before we found a Hotel with rooms available. Lost our muffler in Detroit which was good for crossing the border as it drowned out the sound of the kitten crying under the Seat. The guards in Sarnia couldn't push us through the border fast enough. Ahhh good times.
  12. Gord Downie channelling Jim Morrison right before Small Town Bringdown that would have been good
  13. Does Beatlemania at Hamilton Place in 81 count or Blue Peter in the gym at Highland Secondary in 82 or 83. If not it would have been Aztec Camera at the Concert Hall in 85.

    More Panic!

That won't happen in Toronto. They still play Theaters that size in some parts of the States so there's no way there will be 3000 at a show in Toronto which brings me back to wondering just how many or how few people will be there for the show in Ottawa.
  15. A just as strange pairing, IMHO, was when Cracker opened up for the boys in Seattle back in 94 or 95.

    More Panic!

That does make a lot more sense logistically.

    More Panic!

So are we to assume the Toronto show would be on the Monday then? Where would they play??? The Docks?? I'm actually kind of suprised that they are 9:00 pm on Sunday night in Ottawa. Are they going to draw that big of a crowd. Is Panic being played on the radio nowadays??? I have no clue as I only listen to Sirius.
  18. Speaking of Marky anybody given the new Teenage Head album a listen yet. I didn't realize that they were redoing a bunch of the oldies for it I thought it was going to be a completely new disc.
  19. Weakerthans and the Wailers are both playing at the same time as Widespread. Must be the time slot for the W's lol Anybody notice the press photo for WSP on the Bluesfest site shows JB w. SCI, funny
  20. I'd love to be joining you in the Front Row but we won't be sitting there with the kiddos lol. $125 is pretty steep. What do Lawn Seats normally sell for during the General onsale?? Never been to Ottawa for the Bluesfest.
  21. So will Jenn & I, it's been way too long for us to catch a Panic show. Now what to do with the twins?? Selfishly I'll be hoping for an early time slot so I can sit back and chill. I really can't imagine an enormous crowd for the Georgia boys.
  22. Thats east of the lights. It was a fantastic weekend in the Bruce. Make me wonder if South Huron would be the same. Where were all you f*ckers for the 3 years that Jenn and I lived in Sauble beach proper from 2001 through 04. We were nicknamed the hippies because we were the only ones there.
  23. Thorgnor, Thanks for the advice. So you read the water meter eh.... whoops was that an extra $20 that I left stuck to the side of the house, how did that get there??? lol Anyhow we're gonna take a day trip sometime soon and check out the environs. I've driven through Exeter a number of times but never venturing off #4. As far as winter goes little worries me. Having lived in Bruce County for 7 years close to the Lake. I know Winter wrath. Paisley is like a black hole in th Winter time if you try to leave the weather will suck you back in.
  24. We are in Paisley. I know there have been some jokes about culture in London. The thing is we adopted twin boys from Ethiopia this past year and the reality is there just isn't much opportunity around here for them to experience some of their own culture let alone see another black person. We want to think about some things before they start school and where would be the proper place for them to grow up. Paisley is fine, we like being close to the beach but diverse it is not. Quality schools and programs not too sure either. We are also vegetarians in Beef Country which really doesnt give us many options for dining out. As petty as it seems I really miss Ethnic Food. The truth is my job is safe for now but that may not be the case 12 or 18 months from now and there are not a lot of opportunities up here in or outside my field which could provide a suitable income for the family. Being close to London I know I could get a job almost instantly within my field if the need arises. What has us looking Exeter way is the idea of being within reasonably quick access to the city while keeping pretty close to the Lake. Thanks for the responses.

    Exeter, ON

Anybody got anything to say about this town. Contemplating the move closer to a major city. Being 40 minutes from London while maintaining affordable housing has appeal. I would not need to find work as my job would simply follow me. Liking the idea of being closer to some culture and amenities. We are currently in the heart of Bruce County which I like but definitely has its limits.
