    Malilog

Yours Truly got hassled trying to bring a djembe into the USA when we went to moe.down in 2004. The border agent wanted some kind of "certificate of manufacture" to ensure it wasn't made from the wood of endangered trees or using the skin of an endangered animal species. If you have the chance, you might want to see if the store that sold it to you could provide something like that. Aloha, Brad

    Ham

There was an episode of Good Eats about ham, and I found it on YouTube, in two parts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr0OJyglHXw&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLVBmMxl0X8&feature=related And the wild boar ham at the Murray St. Charcouterie is to die for. Aloha, Brad

  23. I made a batch of chili once using (cubed) steak, coated in seasoned flour and then browned in oil with diced onions. After that, I added (IIRC) a tin of red kidney beans (rinsed), and a large can of diced tomatoes (drained). There was also some chipotle pepper (from a can) and about half a tall-boy of a decent ale. I threw some frozen corn in near the end. You could easily substitute diced fresh plum tomatoes (four or six, maybe) for the canned tomatoes, and a bell pepper or two would also be a good addition. (I think that'll make a bunch of servings; it also freezes well.) Aloha, Brad
