  1. For all those who don't like to "blame the officials," are you ready to say that good officiating makes a difference yet? I'm actually having trouble enjoying this season cause the stupid replacements can't get anything straight, most annoyingly the flow of the game. brutal. Owners; solve this shit!
  2. A friend of mine was recently in Victoria and ordered a Ceasar with breakfast. When it showed up there was two strips of bacon in it paired with a slice of asparagus. He took them out, set them to the side on his napkin, and drank his Ceasar. When his friends asked him if he was gonna eat the bacon he said no. They were aghast. He just said "I guess I'm not hip enough to get it." I would've eaten the bacon, but what's the asparagus for?
  3. no answer in over three hours... Bradm, fail.
  4. I'm a little confused about how the Iron Islanders managed to burn Winterfell while a small army waited outside, and then when they did finally disappear, why the Northmen didn't reclaim the place. Why did the kids have to take off if Rob's forces (Stark/North) were outside the gates? Otherwise, I'm hooked. When is the new season (3) due?
  5. I find it amazing that the same folks who are angry about "administrative costs" are fully willing to jump up and join the police, the military or the fire brigade and expect to get paid, but then say they want a freeze on government spending and can't figure out why taxes go up and their income goes down... You want small government? Stop signing up for gov't positions and expecting paychecks. You want smaller government? Let healthcare become a for-profit game and see where it leaves you. The Left is not for big gov't by essence, the Left recognizes that the gov't is more than the visible administrators. And while I think most of us would agree that middle-management is bloated, I doubt anyone thinks that putting fewer resources into the problem is the way to solve things (eg. less clean water will likely not lead to more efficient nursing care). The Right seems to believe that the self-fulfilling prophecy of denying the efficacy of gov't while cutting it's feet from beneath it will lead to a universal understanding that gov't is bad, all the while forgetting that it's their guns that hold up the standing army that keeps the gov't from doing its' duty and leaves our taxes paying for boots and rounds instead of public works and education. The same fools will stand up and defend the standing army of the Capitalist Monarchs in one breath, and the Right to bear arms with the next, never noticing that the Right to bear arms is meant to defend the nation from just such military forces as the one they are currently occupied by. frustrating
  6. The guy who's used to getting mobbed... even if he's mistaken that it's going to happen "everywhere."
  7. Hey' date=' I've watched tons of bouts. I thought Custio Clayton go jobbed but Mary Spencer was terrible. She's even admitted that she was nervous and distracted. I could tell since she ate a lot of overhand rights (when they weren't clutching and pawing). The Team Canada coach thought she lost too. I wish we'd see the odd body punch, but that that art went away when the new point system was implimented.[/quote'] I'm not at all saying that she won. I'm also not saying that the only people to get hosed were hosers. There was a match between an Italian and a Cuban at the light heavyweight class that was a joke. The big Italian just held the other guys' arms and the ref gave a penalty to the Cuban for holding. Anber was losing it and they started a conversation about "Why do they do this and why don't the boxing purists lose it on the IOC when this happens?" Anber's answer? "I'm losing it right now?!" Not that I'd call Anber my hero, but I trust that he knows the difference between a fight and a facade.
  8. Why do the Olympic Boxing judges leave the venue early? They aren't gonna watch the matches anyways....... wah wah.
  9. Olympic boxing is a fucking joke! Pure bullshit! The only tournament refereed and judged by people who don't actually like boxing and have no clue what the sport is about or how to understand the action. Simply appalling. Why include a sport only to make a mockery of it?
  10. WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Milos - "I'll see you in Toronto, Tsonga. If that's your real name?"
  12. That's because there's no sex in the champagne room
  13. "And then we have to get Trey to take oxy's." awesome
  14. Unfortunately, I didn't need the website to explain this. I've seen how difficult it has become to get any type of grant to do research that doesn't specifically help the governments' agenda. For the social sciences this means that certain departments known to make trouble are shrinking to the point of disappearance... coming to an anthropology department near you.
  15. :chug: :relax: Word!!!!! :relax:
  16. Just came back from a Cubs game in Wrigley. Go there. Eat a hotdog, with mustard and no ketchup. Fall in love. Go Cubs Go!
  17. WORD!!!!!!!!!!! Old man! I hope it was great! :D
  18. Nice one Edger! And I would argue that you, me, and several others here, ARE scientists. We just aren't Positivists, or Fascists. Best of luck with whatever is next!
  19. Good to see that our priorities are in the right places. depressing.
  20. [beginrant] This series was a flipping joke, as the finals always are. Game one, unnecessary calls going the way of the Thunder, they win. Game two, several bad calls in the mid-fourth leave the game very close, and surprise, surprise, Wade is "fouled" by a no-contact play to bring the Heat up by one, and then again, surprise, the Ref forgets what a foul looks like when Durant is shooting. Couldn't make LeBron the villain I guess? Game three, Refs award points and techs, for... some reason I guess. Oh, and that not-a goal-tend was a pretty nice call too, awarding the Heat two points due to, what, bad eyesight? Low technology in the building prevent them from checking the replay and taking the two points that won the game back? nope. Game four, ref makes his presence felt in the third, leaving the Thunder runnign uphill for the third night in a row against a very good team that seems to be untouchable (and I mean that literally with at least three foul calls with no contact between players [to the point that the refs switched the culprit several times on each], nice work). All that said, none of the players on the Thunder came to play other than Durant and Westbrook. Harden disappeared, but I think that mostly has to do with getting put in foul trouble. Watch the games again and keep an eye out for how many times he's given credit for a foul and on the replay, you just can't find any contact at all. This year's finals were disappointing for me on the same order that the Jordan/Bulls made me bitter. I used to turn off the league at the end of the conference finals. I think I'm gonna be back to that for a few until they come up with a way to at least provide the illusion that they're calling the same way at either end of the floor. PS. I hope you all enjoy the smell of Bron's sack, cause he's gonna be waggling it in your face for the next few months... he just seems like such a gracious winner. fuckstern [rantover]
