I really do appreciate the fact you're sittin' here

Your voice sounds so wonderful

But yer face don't look too clear

So bar maid bring a pitcher, another round o' brew

Honey, why don't we get drunk and screw.

Last night I slept with my boots on again,

one cut on my forehead and one my chin,

on the hard old floor with nothin to cover up with.

You got me real good, girl, and I must admit,

you pack purty mean punch for such a pretty little dish.

And it's a shame to know most folks don't ever know love like this.

Look

I understand "Too little, too late"

I realize there are things you say and do

You can never take back

But what would you be if you didn't even try?

You have to try

So after a lot of thought

I'd like to reconsider

Please

If it's not too late

Make it a cheeseburger

Aloha,

Brad

My brother Esau killed a hunter

Back in 1969

And before the killing was done,

His inheritance was mine.

But his birthright was a wand to wave

Before a weary band.

Esau gave me sleeplessness

And a piece of moral land.

My father favored Esau,

Who was eager to obey

All the bloody wild commandments

The Old Man shot his way.

But all this favor ended

When my brother failed at war.

He staggered home

And found me in the door.

Esau skates on mirrors anymore...

He meets his pale reflection at the door.

Yet sometimes at night I dream

He's still that hairy man,

Shadowboxing the Apocalypse

And wandering the land.

Shadowboxing the Apocalypse

And wandering the land.

Esau holds a blessing;

Brother Esau bears a curse.

I would say that the blame is mine

But I suspect it's something worse.

The more my brother looks like me,

The less I understand

The silent war that bloodied both our hands.

Sometimes at night, I think I understand.

It's brother to brother and it's man to man

And it's face to face and it's hand to hand...

We shadowdance the silent war within.

The shadowdance, it never ends...

Never ends, never ends.

Shadowboxing the Apocalypse, yet again...

Yet again.

Shadowboxing the Apocalypse,

And wandering the land.

Rock and roll is my guitar

And girls electricity

And if I got both of them

I got all, all I need

I could live life without liquor

I know that it'd be hard

But a life without girls and rock and roll

Would break my heart

'Cause rock and roll ain't a game

That you can stop at any time

It's a really serious thing

Like war and crime

Rock and roll ain't a game

Where you know all the rules

You've got to pick up your guitar and play

And play the fool

All I wanna do is to thank you

even though I don't know who you are

You let me change lanes

while I was driving in my car. . .

Whoever you are

I wanna thank you who...

Now all I wanna do is to exit

So I go to where I can get off

On a curve, through the shoulder

There's no parking in that trough

So I drive around all day

Coming atmospheric haze

Till I wanna get on again

Then, all I have to say is

All I wanna do is to thank you

Even though I don't know who you are

You let me change lanes

While I was driving in my car. . .

Whoever you are

I wanna thank you who...

All I wanna do is to tune in

Radio L.A. Lujah

'Cause we're broadcasting live

And we wanna hear all of ya

On the mic is Geggy Tah

But a whole lot more of all of ya

Let us hear ya, let us hear ya

In a big echoing holla

All I wanna do is to thank you

Even though I don't know who you are

You let me change lanes

While I was driving in my car

Whoever you are

I wanna thank you who...

Hang it up now or never

Hang it up again

(Hang it up now or never)

Hang it up now or never

Hang it up again

Hang it up now or never

Hang it up again

Doesn't seem like anything you're saying or doing or doing

Is making any sense

Long distance drunk

Long distance drunk

Long distance drunk

Oh yeah oh yeah

(8 AM and someone calls you on the telephone)

Long distance drunk

(You want to be by yourself and all alone)

Long distance drunk

Sometimes it feels like ive lost direction

Sometimes people build me up just to bring me down

Still ill try and find the best in the situation

Its never to late to turn things around

Shed a tear as I watched the news the other day

Hurts me so to constantly see the beast in humanity

Ran for my guitar and began to play

Strumming some relif into my pain

Chours:

You gotta belive

You gotta belive now children

You gotta belive in the power of music

Sometimes when im alone and feeling blue

Can always hum a tune or two just to get me through

Other times when im feeling low like I could die

Music lifts me up and makes me feel so alive

Singing...

Ya got to belive in the power of music

It can get you through the darkest of times

So keep your head high and keep on singing

Let that music bring peace to your troubled mind

Chorus:

"In spite of ourselves

We’ll end up a’sittin’ on a rainbow

Against all odds

Honey, we’re the big door prize

We’re gonna spite our noses

Right off of our faces

There won’t be nothin’ but big old hearts

Dancin’ in our eyes.

There won’t be nothin’ but big old hearts

Dancin’ in our eyes".

"Many years later I found myself talking to this girl

Who was standing there with her back turned to lake marie

The wind was blowing especially through her hair

There was four italian sausages cooking on the outdoor grill

And man, they was ssssssssizzlin’

Many years later we found ourselves in Canada

Trying to save our marriage and perhaps catch a few fish

Whatever seemed easier

That night she fell asleep in my arms

Humming the tune to louie louie’

Aah baby, we gotta go now.

We were standing

Standing by peaceful waters

Standing by peaceful waters

Whoa wah oh wha oh

Whoa wah oh wha oh"

I wandered again to my home in the mountain

Where in youths early dawn I was happy and free

I looked for my friends but I never could find them

I found they were all rank strangers to me

Everybody I met seemed to be a rank stranger

No mother no dad not a friend I could see

They knew not my name and I knew not their faces

I found they were all rank strangers to me

They've moved all away said the voice of a stranger

To a beautiful home by the bright crystal sea

Some beautiful day I'll meet them in heaven

Where no one will be a stranger to me

In 1984 I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

Slowly screwing my way across Europe, they had to make a correction.

Broken and smokin' where the infrared deer plunge in the digital snake.

I tell you, they make it so you can't shake hands when they make your hands shake.

I know you like to line dance, everything so democratic and cool,

But baby there's no guidance when random rules.

I know that a lot of what I say has been lifted off of men's room walls.

Maybe I've crossed the wrong rivers and walked down all the wrong halls.

But nothing can change the fact that we used to share a bed

and that's why it scared me so when you turned to me and said:

"Yeah, you look like someone

Yeah you look like someone who up and left me low.

Boy, you look like somene I used to know."

I asked the painter why the roads are colored black.

He said, "Steve, it's because people leave

and no highway will bring them back."

So if you don't want me I promise not to linger,

But before I go I gotta ask you dear about the tan line on your ring finger.

No one should have two lives,

now you know my middle names are wrong and right.

Honey we've got two lives to give tonight.

I woke this mornin' here to find myself

deeper than I'd ever been--

even a milkin' man'll tell you

brother your time is a blessing and your blindness a sin.

Your first light checking your conscience,

your third is turning blue--

and settling here in the darkness

you're inclined to discover what you already knew.

Father of acolyte,

dreams so real it blows my mind

back jack sacks button you're moving' along.

There's so many rivers you can draw from

so many spaces to fill,

I'm tempered and tangled in lightness

you go out on your own and you choose as you will.

in taking you leave her in silence

in consecrated fool

and giving back what you paid for

you divide by the numbers that they tought you in school.

father of acolyte, dreams....

pick up the sack, jack movie it along

Americana's still rolling on

though our bloodline is faded, she'll live to carry on

though it's all about that way

we can use what we've learned today

use what you learned today.

you know you can use...use what you learned today.

oh we gotta get centralized, we gotta get centralized

Americana's still rolling on

though our bloodline is faded, she'll live to carry on

with a song and a simple way

we can use what we've learned today.

Eube my love in the summer,

Ruby my rain on a cloudy day.

You'll be my love in the summer,

ruby my rain on a cloudy day.
