Jay Funk Dawg Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Please post your requests... I'll be talking to the band before they perform and I'll pass on your favorites... I'm voting for "Nellie Jean"
guigsy Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 one of these days i really gotta see them do Else... and my heart my stop if they do it coming out of Soft Machine.
guigsy Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 .... but you know what? i'd rather them just play whatever they're feelin'... it'll be way better, regardless of what it is.
guigsy Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 this is also a fun game though.. haha.. The Shouters would be magical in that setting... and the new one, My Landlord would bend minds... again, perfect given the time and place.
guigsy Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 whoa-k, i think that's about enough from me... what the..
shainhouse Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Even though I won't be there, my request is 'Love & Tears'
zero Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Spice Groove Julia's Kitchen Steel Drum Zion
long time runnin' Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 "MELINA" ...sittin in the middle of a cold north lake, high waters gonna rise till the edges of the great dam break then the cold, cold water will allow Me and my baby to be home, home She'll be sleepin' by now.
Esau Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 '74 Just because I love that song (actually its my favourite) & it spurs memories of my father for some reason. I'm sure many of the Slip "elitists" will say its played it self out as I've been told so many times,so please save it.But that is (to me anyway) one of the most emotional songs I have ever heard them play.
zero Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 I don't know if it's played itself out. I don't think it's been played hardly at all actually. I think they are just really interested in what they're doing now.
guigsy Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 yeah, i agree... hasnt been played out at all... im constantly trying to find shows with that song, but they dont do it too often... and yeah, you can tell they're really into pushing the envelope in a new direction.. its really good, though...good call on the julia's kitchen, luke... i'll add a weight of solomon to that... they go well together.honestly, though, i gotta re-iterate what i said earlier... play whatever they're feeling, and hopefully its a lot of new stuff, and stuff i havent heard... this is one band that i seriously look forward to hearing whatever is coming next from them... even though it is nice to think of what i'd like to hear them play, its not often a band comes along that you wish they'd play something you never heard before, just because you know the surprise will blow you away.
Esau Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 No need to debate,I know my Slip & I know what I like/love.I also have many a show with '74 on it for what its worth.I sorta search out that song.Anyway......
guigsy Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 yeah... i agree esau... and im not trying to debate you, but maybe i should word it differently. what i want to hear isnt what is popular now, because i want to hear something i havent heard. but back to 74... love the song... we gotta work out some kinda deal, cuz i really dont have enough of that one! ::
guigsy Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 TAKE A BEETLE TO THE BADLANDS!!! who wants to dance with me?? ::
show---whore Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 how about love and tears!!! by far my fav.
guigsy Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Spice Groove fu©k yeah. im listening to a show with it now, and its taking me back to tyrone... fu©k that was amazing... felt like i was about to be taken away.
AD Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 I'd rather not dictate to a band what I want to hear, cuz chances are they'd play something better / more interesting / fresher / suprising on their own. I go to karaoke when I want to plan what I hear. Just my opinion though. AD
Jay Funk Dawg Posted August 15, 2004 Author Report Posted August 15, 2004 one of the best tunes The Slip played at their first Canadian Date in 2000 @ Evolve 2, imortalized in Greg Hemmings' doc "Revolve" WEIGHT OF SOLOMON!
guigsy Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 man, they are going to shred minds at this fuckin thing!! seriously, people are going to be leaving just a little messed up... i cant fuckin wait!!!
Jay Funk Dawg Posted August 16, 2004 Author Report Posted August 16, 2004 I'm really diggin' the live acoustic and electric discs right now... "SUGAR SHACK" and "If one of us should fall" are also wicked tunes
