snarfmaster C
so i've been invited to a friends 27th birthday party. it's a costume dealio where we've gotta dress up as some 'creative or artistic genius who, in fact, died soon after their 27th birthday (by their own hand or natural causes).' i dunno about the genius part, but you get the idea, no? i'm thinkin janis would be a good one, but how about some other options? preferably female, but who else to add to the list? jimi hendrix jim morrison kurt cobain
bradm
I'm not sure about the ages of them, but Buddy Holly (which'd be easy to go as, even for a female: grey suit, short hair, big bulky black glasses), Richie Valens, or The Big Bopper might work. Aloha, Brad
gentlemonkey
hey moose, i think you as duane allman, with handlebar mustache and wispy lid, and all jean attire would be amusing. for you and others. you could wear a slide on your finger. StoneMtn
Although I am sure you would make a very pretty Hendrix, Morrison, Cobain, Buddy Holly, or Richie Valens; how about someone a little more effeminate? Patsy Cline died at age 28.
Booche
Ritchie Valens was 17 when he died. The song Donna was his biggest all-time hit and first million seller. It was a two-sided hit and the flip side 'La Bamba' was a traditional Spanish song which Ritchie sang in Spanish after adding a rock'n'roll beat to it. He was a hero to Mexican-American communities, just a young boy but a hero. A flip of a coin sealed his fate.

FairySari
Tupac. I know, he doesn't fit the criteria exactly, but it would be a fun costume.Jean-Michel Basquiat. Not a musician, but definitely a creative genius.

Jaimoe
Buddy Holly died in his early 20's - I think he was 21. I believe Keith Relf electricuted himself in the bathtub when he was 27. Keith Relf was the lead singer for one of my favourite bands, The Yardbirds.
snarfmaster C
i really like the duane allman idea. that or mama cass would be fun
Jaimoe
Keith Relf was older than 27. Buddy Holly was 23. This is scary, but this legend died at age 27:
StoneMtn
Robert Johnson? Age 27? My god, what did I accomplish by the time I was 27 ... as I recall, not that much!
Jaimoe
Cobain planned to die at 27, so he should have an asterix beside his name. Robert Johnson was poisoned by a jealous husband of a woman he had a one-night stand with... allegedly - the Devil may have had his hand in his death. Jaimoe
Here's a few more for you ( I'm pretty sure quite a few jazz and blues guys never made it past their 27th year too): I know Hendrix was mentioned, but the guy on the left was not: Al Wilson from Canned Heat: Gary Thain from Uriah Heep: Chris Bell from Big Star And of course, this band never tragically never made it to 27:
hamilton
I think Tim Buckley was 27 when he died... and Jeff Buckley wasn't much older (30, maybe?). Nick Drake was 26, I think.
