Zedonk reviewed in Relix

I can't think of an instrumental album I've enjoyed more than this effort from the Canadian trio nero. The band wanders all over the musical map with dexterity, combining tenacity and melody in equal parts. The trio expands it's sound with various guest players like John McCann on a number of tracks, such as the opener "Breakline," slipping from muscular riff-laden rock to buoyant, horn-propelled jazz with ease. The title cut is a beautifully melodic piece that goes through a number of time changes. It finds guitarist Dave Lauzon getting great tones as he rips through some expressive and fluid soloing. The band shows it's tight playing in the complex "Downside Up" and the moody meandering of "Effervescence," with its delicate passages, powerful eruptions and eerie end. The album closes with the uncharacteristic but exquisite acoustic piece "Beyond Chance."

KUDOS TO THE BOYS!!!! Well deserved. I had the chance to witness the recording of Zedonk in Toronto and Eric's prep for instrument isolation was a feat in itself. From the first bed tracks I could tell it was going to be an enjoyable album. And thanks to Punk who listed me in his "Thanks".

Boys, you're all gems!!!
