Booche
Disc Two is killer........... Seriously, that's all I really know. DogAtTheStation thinks '76 is hugely under-rated. I tend to agree with his opinion, even though I have none on this one. All I know is that I want to drink penis coladick's with Hamilton.
hamilton
I've been listening to the Grateful Dead all day - two shows from within a week of each other, 6/18/74 (Louisville)and 6/23/74 (Miami). I love Jerry Garcia. And Booche.
Booche
In 1974, we would have made man-fun with vasoline.

hamilton
I dunno... in 1974, I was busy trying to escape from my mother's uterus. The rest of the year was spent adjusting myself to this miserable world, and shitting myself - so I would have been a bit pre-occupied for man-fun. AdamH
There were some hot hot shows in both those yars but 76 is sort of in a class all it's own. 6-19 and 6-14 (sound quality = biznatch) are my favorites.
hamilton
DogAtTheStation thinks '76 is hugely under-rated. I tend to agree with his opinion, even though I have none on this one. The biggest problem with '76 is that it is bookended by '74 and '77, two of the Dead's best years. The second problem was with dealing with the return of Mr. Spock. I think it took the band a little while to deal with having two drummers again - they seem to play differently together than they did in the early two-drummer days - which I think made turning corners kind of awkward for a little bit. But, all in all, I think that '76 is often unfairly maligned, fer shure.
Palms
I haven't decided if I am going to get this yet. I almost never listen to the 76 shows I have. I thought a lot of the shows were slow and i too agree that much of the problem lies with the reintroduction of Mickey Hart. 77 was much stronger to me. I do really love lazy lightning > supplication jams though.
MarcO
They were vocally strong in 76. Just a thought.
Jaimoe
I wonder if they have the Who shows somewhere in their vault. Dick found ABB shows in the past and release them, so The Who must be there somewhere. I'd kill to hear that stuff.
