Freak By Night
20 years ago I lived in the apartment upstairs from Direinzo's. Geez, how much were the sandwiches then? 15 cents? Ha! They didn't even sell them! Back then, the store was struggling to keep in business. I remember Paul (the owner, the guy who still runs the place) complaining that all the big stores got price breaks from their suppliers while the mom and pop shops were going out of business. (The numerous packs of zig-zag papers my college roomates and I bought was not enough to keep them afloat!) Since they started selling the sandwiches, they've sure been doing a booming business. bouche
I ordered my sandwich and in 5 seconds, I realized that I wanted tomatoes. As soon as that happened, I realized that my sandwich was made and wrapped. They are fu©king sandwich JEDIS!
