bradm
I saw an ad in this week's Ottawa XPress: The New Deal are playing Barrymore's on Wednesday, March 23. PRS Concerts is putting it on, and tickets are on sale now. Aloha, Brad
rubberdinghy
20 BUCKS!!! Yowsers!!
CodyBanks
20 BUCKS!!! Yowsers!! I think $20 for tND is great. If all you want to pay is $5-8 cover to see a band, thats exactly the kind of talent you'll get $5-8 worth.
rubberdinghy
I've seen alot better talent for free my friend.
CodyBanks
Enjoy your free shows then. Free just means someone has footed the bill/cover for you.
rubberdinghy
Not saying I don't like the band, seen them twice previously at Barrymore's and was sorely dissappointed twice by the band, and twice by the staff. Just my opinion, enjoy the show!
bradm
I think I'm with rubberdinghy on this one: $20 for The New Deal, on a weeknight, just doesn't work for me. If it was, say, $10 and on a Friday or Saturday, then I might be up for it. I might change my mind if it was reported that tND had gotten significantly better (as in less repetitive, more different tempos, etc.), but the last couple of times I've seen them, it just hasn't connected that extremely for me. hamilton
It seems to me that they must play poorly in Ottawa - I don't know anyone there who has a high opinion of them. If the New Deal wanted to play Hamilton for $20 on any night of the week, I'd be there in a heartbeat!
Freeker
20 bucks pfffft
AD
I'm in Ottawa and think highly of them - and I think $20 is a good deal. I will be there for sure. AD
rubberdinghy
The first time I saw them was a couple of years back, it was at the Tulip Festival in the rain, Stapes convinced me to go, so I did, and loooved it...now they just don't do it for me! Hartamophone
I'm pretty pumped for this one. I haven't seen them for a couple of years, but they've certainly never disappointed me. I agree that twenty bones is a little steep for Barrymore's on a week night, but I'll have no problems sacrificing a beer or two to make up for it. Peace, Hart
bouche
The show will be packed even at $20. They surely know that. $10 would likely create a riot.
TomFoolery
The last time I saw them at Barrymore's was in March 2003 - it was repetitive and not up to their potential. I saw them play the Capital City Music Hall (or whatever the hell its called) opening and they'd changed a lot from the March 03 show. Much more energy and breadth. Then again maybe it was the cookies... The Ottawa Stage Force Field was definitely in effect at both shows. I imagine this changes the dynamics for a band considerably. I'll check'em again for $20. They've got enough talent to warrant another try.
TheSloth
IN!!! I'm in Ottawa and I think highly of them as well (see you there AD). 20 bucks is fine by me especially since it's at Barrymore's and not Capital City Music Hall (I fu©king hate the security at Capital City). BoogieKnight or Shitidiot - either of you coming up for this?
shitidiot
i'll be there.
AdamH
If only because it's at Barrymores's I would go but alas I'll be out of town. On the upside I took a look at Pollstar for NYC for that week and I wonder what to do with myself. Soundtrack of our lives? Dave Holland? Buddy Guy? Black Crowes? All of the above and looming bankruptcy?
meggo
big IN. i haven`t seen tND in some time (opera house summer '02?) but i've always had a good time. on a schoolnight which doesn`t really bode well for me, nonetheless, i`ll see what i can do! right on! ::
MarcO
I hope they come to Hamilton and I'd pay $20 to see them, even on a weeknight. I think it's worth it and funny enough there are bands I don't think are worth $8 on Friday night. So suck it real hard.
TheSloth
i'll be there. Sweet. I imagine you'll be busy helping out and all but if you get some free time - mi casa es su casa.

CodyBanks
i'll be there. Are you still blowing the band for free rides and cover??
Del
I'll probably go, but I'm not a big fan. I've seen them once, and it was a major disappointment... They don't still have that girl ruining, oops, I mean singing to their music do they? I'll probably leave early, what with work and a general dislike of their music and all... shitidiot
they blow me now. the band is playing with new life and have some new songs. it's like 2001 again.
