Roll Call: Kaki King @ PJC Tonight

It was pretty cool man. I sometimes find that an acoustic player won't keep my attention for an entire set (e.g. Xavier Rudd...he's a fantastic musician, but at about the half-hour mark it was getting a little boring...). Anyway, not so with Kaki King. She played some lap steel through a bunch of loops, that was cool, but her acoustic guitar playing was my favourite part. The scene at the PJ last night was perfect for the show, too; the place was full, inside and out, and kc had all the windows open so you could watch the show from most of the patio, too. She is totally worth seeing if you're on the fence, Del.

"i love water..."

this was really ood stuff. i didn't know she play lap steel, and the looping was really good. we were hoping to hear Night After Sidewalk at some point but it never happened. what a jerkburger.

hahaha walking back to the parking lot after the show Redd and our friend andrew decided it would be a good idea to check out some sex toys store. so here we are, giggling in this creepy place filled with weirdos in jerkoff booths, giggling at the movie titles and we try to leave so we go outside of course. we're having a smoke out there waiting for andrew to finish whatever it is her was doing for like 10 minutes so we go looking for him inside again. the fucking dick is sitting in the front office with the guy watching porn and getting the grand tour of everything. he said the guy kept showing him the gay stuff. he also asked the guy if all 4 of us could go into a booth together. he was like "yeah as long as you're not noisy" hahahahahahahahahaha.

I just got back from Kaki's performance at Bluesfest, and I'm damn glad I went. She was amazing. I was shocked at how few people went... It was me, Velvet, phorbesie and mooose... I'd put it in the top five shows I've seen at Bluesfest... She's one hell of a guitar player, and the way she was looping the slide guitar was impressive as well... She told the water story to us, mentioning how she had talked about it in Hamilton the night before... I'd definitely check her out again for sure...

When I worked that job (the "adult" industry sustained me, in various ways, from runaway teen to present day upstanding adult), I had a strict one-person-per-booth policy. nobody wants to clean that shit.

There goes my political career. I should sleep.
