badams Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 OTTAWA (CP) - The Ottawa Senators have avoided salary arbitration with Marian Hossa by signing the star forward to an $18-million US, three-year deal.A source said Hossa will earn $5 million this season, $6 million in 2006-07 and $7 million the following season. The Sens and Hossa were scheduled to go to arbitration Tuesday morning if a deal wasn't reached.Hossa, 26, had reportedly wanted between $5 million and $6 million a year while the Sens were hoping to pay him less than $4 million. The Slovak recorded 36 goals and 46 assists in 82 regular-season games in 2003-2004. In 467 career games, he has 188 goals and 202 assists.
rubberdinghy Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 WOW...That's interesting...I fer sure didn't think they'd sign him multi-year for that much...He damn well better produce...besides, who the hell will play with him next year?
Freak By Night Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 (edited) You're damn right he better produce! Especially in the playoffs.I'm guessing Hossa would have got a bit less in in arbitration, and only a 1-year deal. Muckler obviously wants to keep him happy. On a related note, I just mailed in the form for my Sens tickets. Half-season package, in the nosebleeds. Edited August 23, 2005 by Guest bad typing
Douglas Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 That is going to bite them in the ass. Bye bye Redden.
Jakis Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 They are learning from the Leafs and overplaying players i guess.
AD Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Bye bye Redden.Hopefully. I don't think I've ever recovered from his giveaway against New Jersey.FockerAD
Freak By Night Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Does anyone know what the Sen's total salary will be that Hossa is going to get $5 mil this coming season? Seems to me, it's significantly higher than it was in 2003-2004.If so, the lockout solved nothing.

ollie Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I'm hearing it's de Vries... which is good. Phillips is a playoffs workhorse.

ollie Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Leafs sucks. Get yer own thread. You guys would kill for Heatley. Starting to like Ottawa a little more now, Jaimoe?
rubberdinghy Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 See other post...not sure if I like this...Heatley better produce.
Booche Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 "Starting to like Ottawa a little more now, Jaimoe? "Ollie, he is a closet Leafs fan which is why he doesnt like Ottawa. Let him say whatever he wants to say, all he is doing is kidding himself.
SmoothedShredder Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Hey AD, you going to keep pissin on the Sens Defence? Callin out Phillips and Redden in the same thread, who's side are you on? I'd take Phillips as a number 3 D man any day of the week.
Jaimoe Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 On most teams in the NHL, Phillips is a #2 or even a #1 D-man. The Sens have a great defense corps.
AD Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Hey AD, you going to keep pissin on the Sens Defence? Callin out Phillips and Redden in the same thread, who's side are you on? I'd take Phillips as a number 3 D man any day of the week.Clone Chara. Make him strong by feeding him Redden and Phillips. I'll keep pissing on the defence until they stop coughing up the puck at key moments. AD
SmoothedShredder Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 (edited)   [color:purple]I've seen you cough up the puck once or twice. Edited August 25, 2005 by Guest
