Jay Funk Dawg
GRAND THEFT BUS www.grandtheftbus.com with RUBARBICON DVD SCREENING www.farmhouseproductions.ca www.hitmedia.ca Thursday, November 10th Rivoli 322 Queen St. W $10 Doors 8:30 MOVIE STARTS AT 9PM !! Hailing from Southern New Brunsick Canada, Grand Theft Bus has garnered a reputation as one of Canada’s busiest and most exciting new bands. Although known for their sprawling exploratory live performances, the group’s studio efforts Birth of Confusion and Flies in the No Fly were extremely well received by both critics and fans alike. Since it’s inception in 2000 the band has performed over 400 shows, including sell out shows in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. Grand Theft Bus has also been a mainstay on the summer festival circuit including sold-out performances at the Atlantic Jazz Festival, the Evolve Festival, Burlington Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom Music Festival and the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton, New Brunswick. A Grand Theft Bus set varies night after night. The band has an arsenal of about 50 original songs. Some are intense, multi part epic affairs, others are tight concise melodic offerings focused more on structure than subtleties. GTB offers a mixture of both worlds during a live experience. This band takes the live show very seriously and works very hard to ensure the concert goer has a pleasureable experience. Inspired by music mocumentaries such as Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind, and Hardcore Logo, with a scent of Trailer Park Boys, Rubarbicon takes the mocumentary to a whole new level using what director/producer Greg Hemmings calls “improvisational non-actingâ€. The story of Rubarbicon was not scripted at all, the filmmaker had the story concept and went out to the streets and shared the idea with people he encountered wherever he or his crew were on earth between the years of 2002 and 2005 . Fake interviews were conducted with these random “non-actorsâ€. This technique opened the story up to the creativity of everyone who participated in an interview, and was built upon as the story grew.

bradm
Would it be worth the drive to Ottawa, Tooly? It's a lot further from Hamilton than Toronto is, but it's a lot less hectic here, and the movie/show is happening on Saturday, Nov. 12.Aloha,Brad
