bouche
Photos show what I couldn't have imagined. I heard of a pileup, but I didn't realize that the scene was this nasty. The thought that this was unavoidable for people on their way to work is freaky.
Dr_Evil_Mouse
Incroyable! The worst I saw in Ottawa yesterday was an OC bus half in the ditch on Woodroffe (which in itself was remarkable, given the glaze of ice that set in pretty much everywhere). c-towns
There was a devastating crash a few years ago in between Chatham and Windsor, something like 140 cars, due to fog on the 401, bad stories I have heard.

AWeeJig
That is a nasty stretch of the 401 between Chatham and Windsor. My cousins narrowly avoided that horrible accident. They were about 5 minutes ahead of it on their way to Ottawa. You can still see evidence of that crash there.
Birdy
yes you can! that summer after the crash the chatham-windsor corridor became known as "carnage alley" because of all the accidents. i remember thinking how weird it was that there were soooo many accidents and wondered if the road's bad publicity had some kind of subconscious effect on drivers.
