Jaimoe
I picked me up some from the market at Toronto City Hall. I'm going to have one of Friday. They are higher in protein and lower in fat than even turkey, and allegedly more flavourful than beef. Edited July 19, 2006 by Guest

Jaimoe
Elk burgers are really good. They taste like extra-lean steak burgers. Recommended for a healthy alternative to beef.

Jaimoe
i like bison burgers...but i'm ready for elk. Bison burgers are often higher in fat than even beef or beefalo - same with Licks' nature burgers. Give the elk a try, if only for continued burger addiction without the risk of imminent heart disease.
bouche
if i can find it...i most certainly will eat the elk.don't be afraid of the bison fat...just be afraid of chocolate bars, cookies, ice cream and potato chips. That stuff is super addictive. I'm just coming off of a weekend affair with a big bag of Ruffles Salt and Vinegar.
fluffhead77
I'm just coming off of a weekend affair with a big bag of Ruffles Salt and Vinegar.i hate that bitch! She always lures me in with the promise of her salty sour goodness and then leaves me rolling around groaning and not being able to taste anything for 3 days because she burned off my taste buds. Sadly, I will go back to her. I almost crave the abuse...
Birdy
Elk burgers are really good.surprisngly so. i convinced myself to try one up north this past weekend, and they weren't bad. at all!
Jaimoe
Try the added spice kind. They are excellent. I had another elk burger the other night and it further confirmed to me that they are not only a great alternative to beef, but a welcome addition to my summer BBQ menu. Birdy
i find turkey burgers are unusually hard to keep together .. like in burger form, when on the bbq...
Davey Boy 2.0
i think it's the egg + cheese that gives these bad boys sticking power(stop shaking your head, jaimoe)
bradm
I had figured it was the egg (beaten, the way I do it) + breadcrumbs that added significant sticktogetherness.Aloha,Brad
Jaimoe
i think it's the egg + cheese that gives these bad boys sticking power(stop shaking your head, jaimoe)Shaking my head in agreement. I love turkey burgers and a raw egg plus cheese, onion ix, crumbs etc... all help keep those burgs together.
Birdy
i've never added cheese.. maybe that's the magic ingredient. seems like the old egg and crumbs isn't enough sometimes with the turkey burgers.

Jaimoe
I can't eat veal - I can't support the way they are raised - but boy, veal is a tasty little whore of a meat.
