Shane Philip

www.shanephilip.com

Inspired by the simplicity of Ben Harper and the didgeridoo work of Richard Bridge, Vancouver Island-based multi-instrumentalist Shane instinctively blends the Weissenborn style of guitar playing with the earth-shaking vibrations of didgeridoo, and the dance-inducing beat of a kick drum; creating the sound and energy of a full band. The first question people often ask when they see Shane play for the first time is, "Is all that sound coming from him?"

Shane's grooves have a tendency to get entire audiences onto the dance floor. "When they dance, it is a physical manifestation of what I am playing and it is such a powerful feeling. They just pass the energy right back to me and by watching people move, I alter the rhythms and accents and it's kind of like a conversation back and forth. Like a conversation, there are emotional tensions as well as emotional and physical releases. It is truly magical."

Big League Chu

www.BigLeagueChu.com

Colin Chu, better known as Big League Chu, is simply the leading DJ talent in Canada's breakbeat scene today. After nearly a decade of DJing, his name is synonymous with the funky, party-happy sound that?s become Chu's rallying call - and it's one that crowds answer faithfully. Passion for music and fun are what motivates Chu, who plays the piano, flute and guitar, and counts the Dave Matthews Band and Public Enemy as his biggest musical influences. It's this good-natured respect for good times and eclectic sounds that has garnered this humble DJ of Hong Kong and Singaporean descent to such a steady stream of press, from underground publications like Tribe and Klublife to mainstream outlets like the Toronto Star and Eye weekly. As Make It Funky's main resident, Colin dynamic sets and down to earth nature has made him Toronto's most sought after performer.

The Herbaliser Band won't be playing unfortunately - they are on a hiatus ... we're pleased however to present the man behind Herbaliser Band - DJ Ollie Teeba

I set up a date in Halifax on Sept. 27 and the one in Toronto on Sept. 29.. Ottawa could be a possibility on Friday Sept. 28th if anyone was interested.

this is going to be a wild show kids!

Well, I was thinking that since WC @ Mavericks will be a throw-down tribal dance party, having the DJ from Herbaliser along for the ride would be a blast, and wouldn't "split" the dance crowd, as might happen if he were booked into another Ottawa venue.

Aloha,

Brad
