ollie
Thanks Phorbesie! That looks like a pretty good sampler for non-Genesis fans. I recommend grabbing discs 1 and 2 if nothing else.I will be there Saturday but I believe FBN has other plans. Where is your seat?

Kanada Kev
Enjoy the show Phorbsie. It's an amazing event. Watch Chester Thompson and Phil Collins kickass on their kits. Amazing drummers. The first 3 discs in that collection are full of top-notch stuff. If you like that, try the full albums. I can help you out if you want ... or provide some killer live shows. We watch in reverence, as Narcissus is turned to a flower.A flower?
Freak By Night
i'm guessing ollie and FBN will be in attendance on saturday Not me. I'm not a big fan of this "Earth, Wind, and Phil" lineup.
Cosmic ChrisC
Phorbesie, I'm glad to hear you and Velvet will be at the Genesis show!Of course, Ollie and I will be there! Going to the Montreal show on Friday night, followed by Govt Mule. Then back to Ottawa on Saturday for another Genesis show. It'll be a wonderful musical weekend! The Montreal prog festival is also taking place this weekend ( www.fmpm.net ), but we won't have time for that!I hope the Genesis shows are able to capture a little bit of Gabriel's artistry and passion, even if he's not there. Either way, I'm sure I'll have a great time! I'm expecting some cheesiness from Collins, and I'm OK with that.
bradm
Then back to Ottawa on Saturday for another Genesis show. You might have enough time to catch at least the second set of Lauzon @ Dekcuf after Genesis on Saturday, too.Aloha,Brad

Kanada Kev
well, if anyone wants to get an idea of what this tour sounds like, here is one of the official sbd releases from the Euro leg (as a 320K MP3).If you listen to this, be warned, you might have a hard time holding on to your last meal if you listen to Hold On My Heart!!! Otherwise, this is a really good tour and well played. Too bad you don't get all the crazy visuals that the live stage provides: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Edited September 13, 2007 by Guest

phorbesie
i had a fun time at the show! it was better than i expected. the stage was really cool, i loved it. the visual effects were great, and fireworks even! get this....people were standing. and dancing. and having fun. IN OTTAWA. yep hard to believe but it's true. what was the song before mama? i liked that one. i didn't recognize any of the older tunes though, just the pop ones. Kanada Kev
Glad you had a fun time. That's what the show is about ... and some killer musicianship of course. What you heard before Mama was a combo of 2 killer Gabriel-era pieces:Firth Of Fifth / I Know What I LikeTo ease yourself into the 'heavier' stuff i suggest going for the LIVE material. Work your way backwards. Get "3 Sides Live" then "Seconds Out" then "Genesis Live" ... you'll slowly become one of us .
phorbesie
hahaha will i start aging noticeably with each album i acquire? i think/guess i do prefer the gabriel era stuff based on my limited experience with the music (just this one show and one musical box show). thanks for the recommendations. Kanada Kev
LOL ... you won't age ... but you will become wiser . Let me know if you'd like any of these and I can get 'em to ya. You'll love The Musical Box even more after getting more listening hours under your belt
ollie
Don't listen to Kev, start with the Gabriel years!! Glad to hear you enjoyed the show. I wasn't sure if you'd be turned off by the cheesier aspects of the "new" material. We saw them in Montreal and Ottawa but enjoyed Ottawa more due to the relatively intimate setting (40,000 in a stadium versus 14,000 in an arena), plus we had better seats for Ottawa. I'll post some pictures later today. get this....people were standing. and dancing. and having fun. IN OTTAWA. It was a great crowd and I was thinking how Ottawa really gets a bad rap in this regard. In all the shows I've seen at Scotiabank Place over the last few years, the crowd has always been very appreciative of the bands' efforts. I was impressed that we sold out the arena too!
