phishtaper Posted November 1, 2007 Report Share Posted November 1, 2007 sooooooooooo, how much candy did y'all shell out (or rake in)?we had around 40 kids or so. some fun costumes, especially on the little ones. a couple of fairy princesses and a cute little furry crocodile. the odd thing was that there was an inordinate number of adolescent boys in drag (most with huge bazooms), usually travelling in drag packs. we helped out our neighbours who set up a hot chocolate stand on their driveway, which was a real hit with the kids and parents too. one group of 4 boys came back twice, just to hang out and chat. was a really cool idea and the kids are actually remembering it from the year before. UofGuelph students also wheel shopping carts around the neighbourhood on a food drive, which I think is really cool too. great evening. yours? ABU students were doing the food drive thing, which I thought was cool too. 'Guy riding an ostrich' was the best costume I saw. To me, there were far too many 'kids' too old to be still going door-to-door with too little effort in their costumes."What are you supposed to be?""A school girl""Aren't you a school girl everyday??"But whatever, a great evening overall. This was the first year we had halloween at our new house (last year went to the wifes Moms neighbourhood) We were expecting a ton of kids because we right across the street form a school that goes from J.K. to grade 4 or 5. Strange! What am I gonna do with all the left over candy bars. Combine that and what candy my daughter scored we have a stit load of candy. Get out the toothbrushes kiddies!! Freak By Night Posted November 1, 2007 Report Share Posted November 1, 2007 I got perhaps 50 kids at my house. Some great costumes but also some lame ones. One guy's costume was simply a toque! He only got one piece of candy, I was giving everyone else 3 pieces. I was surprised that the flow of trick-or-treaters ended early. By 8:15 pm, that was it. "A school girl" "Aren't you a school girl everyday??" - yeah, we saw lots of kids doing their rounds later in the evening, dressed as, what, surly teenagers? Funny thing was, there were so many still older kids here at the college yesterday who'd totally knocked themselves out dressing up (I had one show up having bought "Anakin turns to the dark side" flaming orange contact lenses to go with his zombie outfit, which was especially freaky - made it kind of hard to stay on topic).
