richbass
This is something that ALL BANDS should be worried about the truth is it is damn hard to sing and well at that. For me I just go for it and write mostly instrumental music because lyrics are tough. Unless I had help from a friend like oh, Hunter or Marshall.......Couple main things that draw me into a 'jam' or 'jam bands' is the unknown. I became a better musician by going out on a limb and improvising. However it got to a point where I wanted to do more and know what the possibilities are. So I started studying jazz! So to me improvising on a song has a certain jazz to it, whether or not it's a standard. Plus I prefer to sing with my instrument and essentially what jazz does plus I'm not so inclined by vocal jazz, except Bobby McFerrin and a couple others. Jam & Jazz not all that different.........? geomouse
i don't think its so much about the vocal quality as it is about the song. When the idea is defined who gives a fuck what accent you might convey? When the song is pure, like all good folk, it will endure...as long as we all remember the words :::
Ms.Huxtable
I always over think lyrics and make them harder to write then they need to be. Then I turn on the radio and there's songs like:Boom boom boom, bang bang bang, boom boom boom.orDa-da-da a-doo da-daDa-da-da a-doo da-da-daDa-da-da a-doo da-daDa-da-da a-doo da-da-daor some phrase repeated over and over again. Jaimoe
I think if you are an aspiring singer with world class chops, fronting a jamband would be the gravest of mistakes.
