canadianphan
Santana & Stevie Winwood, play Toronto on July 11, could be a Bluesfest possibility.
gentlemonkey
ooooh- i like that! This random article mentions Jimmy Cliff, Lou Reed, Jethro Tull, Dave Matthews Band and more as rumoured... RUMOURS! U2 is apparently a strong rumour. I know people love them, but don't see why they would want to play a festival. Isnt' their stage the size of the war museum? Also- they would swallow up a huge amount of the budget, you'd think. Freeker
"Andrew Bird will be playing a small number of Canadian festivals (more than 1 less than 5) according to his newsletter. He is playing Montreal Jazz Fest on July 6 so a stop at bluesfest seems likely"- http://festival-outlook.consequenceofsound.net/fests/view/45/ottawa-bluesfestI really hope this pans out, I'm a huge fan of Andrew Bird!! Northern Wish
Edmonton, Winnipeg and Bluesfest work together in booking acts- so you can also look to their lineups and find a few that will overlap:Winnipeg Folk Festival John Hiatt and The ComboSarah HarmerThe Swell Season. The Levon Helm Band Avett Bros.Andrew Bird, Emmylou Harris Cat Empire The Wailin Jenny’s, Ladies of the CanyonDel Rey and Alvin Youngblood Hart Sonny LandrethThe Rural Alberta Advantage, The DodosEdmontonLevon Helm(USA)Calexico(USA)Kate Rusby(England)Ian Tyson(Alberta)Lau(Scotland)Zachary Richard(USA)Aterciopelados(Colombia)Four Men and a Dog(Ireland)Kailash Kher(India) Dala (Canada) John Hammond (USA) John Boutte (USA) Toumani Diabate (Mali) Tom Russell (USA) Melanie (USA)

AD
After a quick look at that list I can only see one overlap (Helm). So....
Northern Wish
You will see the overlaps when Bluesfest is annoucned. Right now those are obviously incomplete lineups...Its more Winnipeg and Ottawa that tend to have the same artists as they are at nearly the same time.I think (And hope!) we will see these in Ottawa:Swell SeasonAndrew BirdEmmyLou HarrisSarah HarmerAvett Bros

gentlemonkey
Don't ask why- but I noticed Jack Johnson is playing in Baltimore the 17th and Toronto on the 19th. Seems reasonable that he could close the festival...?
