badams
Roy Halladay's return to Toronto as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies in late June won't be happening as planned. The series has been moved to Philadelphia because of security concerns due to the G-20 summit, which is taking place in Toronto at the same time.Since the summit will feature many of the world's major political leaders, and will take place at the Metro Convention Centre close to the Rogers Centre, all parties involved agreed to the move."This was an extremely difficult decision and one which we did not take lightly," said Rogers Sports Entertainment President and CEO Paul Beeston. "By moving our games to Philadelphia, we are acting in the best interests of our fans, our employees, the players and the game of baseball. "We did not want to move the games but in looking at the realities of this situation, we felt that relocation was the most prudent course of action."The three-game interleague series will run June 25-27, and would have been Halladay's first time back playing in Toronto after being traded in the off-season. Despite the fact that the series will be played in Philadelphia, Toronto will bat last during the series and the designated hitter will be used. The three-game set is the only planned meeting between the two clubs this season. Hal Johnson
Haha, not the Jays, but I'm watching the Rays-MAriners game and fan just ran on the field. There is something hilarious about 5 out of shape security guards chasing a shirtless man around the outfield. They caught him eventually, but the security guard with the taser dropped it when making the tackle. Im glad he didn't get to taser the guy. Cully
What a great game. My Dad scored some front row seats (behind the Jays dugout) and they didn't disappoint. It was great to see Overbay get a double/home run and I was so happy to see Hill hit a dinger as well. Marcum pitched a great game, and there were no mental mistakes. It was so great to watch the guys have FUN playing baseball again!I managed to get a game ball (had to fight off a couple kids for it) but it was worth it!!Oh yeah....they were also handing out miny Blizzards outside the gate when we exited!!Go Jays Go!
