Jay Funk Dawg
By this artist list (posted below) - I would say that Evolve became the number 1 Festival in Canada because they always are music trend pioneers rather than music trend followers. Truth is it's also a tight knit community in the Atlantic Provinces and all that collectivity voted the festival in by a landslide! I'm impressed by the line and I think it could likely be Evolve's biggest year yet!Easy Star All-Stars performing their incredible Dub Side of the Moon tribute to Pink Floyd in its entiretyThe digital sampling mashup wizardry of Pretty Lights (Boulder, Colorado)Champion & His G-Strings, Montreal's Juno-nominated livetronica innovatorsThe legendary San Francisco underground crew DubtribeAll the way from Australia -- tribal electrodub partyrocker Ganga GiriFred Penner, from staple of our youth to festival cult favouriteThe red-hot groove of Vancouver's Five Alarm FunkChampion UK beatboxer, MC & live loops trickster BeardymanProgressive trance spinners DJ PreachHey Rosetta!, the hard-rockin' pride of St. John'sOne of Canada's most in-demand DJ/producers Skratch BastidToronto organic synth-pop duo WoodhandsThe phenomenal Indo-Celtic livetronica sound of Delhi 2 DublinWashington, DC nufunk vanguards Fort Knox FiveAboriginal Australian chillroots from OkaThat 1 Guy, the one-man band of homemade instruments from San Francisco2009 Juno-winning banjo songsmith Old Man LuedeckeToby, the magnetic and genre-bending Aussie singer/songwriter
fluffhead77
While there's a few acts in there that are quality, the line up this is just sad for being Canada's #1 festival. Is this really as good as we can get for Canada? I've never been, but I'm pretty sure Bluesfest in Ottawa is a WAAY better festival than this. For evelove to even be considered the number one in my books they'd have to add at least twice as many acts and up the caliber of artists by about 73.52% or thereabouts.
