Pascal Vincent, The Q coach that was penciled in by the French media as Guy Boucher's replacement in Hamilton refuses to answer questions regarding the whole language hysteria.

Finally someone with some fucking common sense! We should hire him!

STOP THE PRESSES!

RDS reporter Rene Lavoie reports that he ran into Randy Cunneyworth in the elevator at United Center, and Randy said to him: "Salut. Comment ca va?"

FUUUUUCK.

Language controversy over.

Now can we please go back to being pissed that our team isn't winning?

As much as this season is sucking the life out of me, there was a brief moment where all was forgotten. The team's annual visit to the St. Justine children's hospital...

More language nonsense:

- French language groups are planning a major demonstration at the Bell Centre on January 7th, giving fans Quebec flags outside the arena to bring into the game as a show of discontent of poor anglo coach Cunneyworth

- French media are aghast, AGHAST I SAY, that Winnipeg coach Claude Noel, who speaks french, is refusing to give interviews in French. Assistant coach Pascal Vincent refuses to address the language issue at all.

- Claude Julien, when asked about whether Montreal should have a French coach, answered that he was in Boston, and he didn't care about Montreal.

- Guy Lafleur, a solid source of lies, claims that he spoke to Geoff Molson who already has four coaches in mind to replace Cunneyworth.

Or an overwhelming act of patriotism. The jury is still out.

Patriotism is the devotion to one's country. This is Provincialism, or Languagism (?)

F it ... make the Habs an ALL FRENCH CANADIAN team then. Let them have Quebec and everything that comes out of it. Nobody from anywhere else though. And all broadcasts are French only.

It actually used to be that way. 1969 was the last year Montreal had territorial rights to players within 50 miles of Montreal, they never had territorial rights to all of Quebec until the NHL draft came along in 1964.

Prior to 1964, all NHL teams had a 50 mile zone that they had exclusive rights to. Montreal was given a 'cultural exemption' from 1964 through 1969. The 1970 draft was the first draft where the best French Canadian player was up for grabs (and Buffalo got him when they chose Gilbert Perreault with the first overall choice).
