gentlemonkey
Everyone should REALLY try and catch this next week! The performing area has been moved to the floor and it's nice and vibey. The sound is great and man can these guys play together! Also, Velvet doesn't smoke until after the show, so its a chance to see him really edgy! Velvet
#1 Christmastime Is Here - V. Guaraldi #2 ?? - Django Reinhardt #3 Friend Of The Devil - Grateful Dead #4 or #5 O Tannenbaum - trad. I sure never knew Paulie or Bibs' last names. Good one. Awesome having so many friends out last night. Thanks so much for being there! How is it that I didn't get a chance to talk to many of you? So it looks like we've become the go-to replacements for Steve Marriner. He goes out on another run early in the new year which is perfect for us - it'll give us a chance to learn a bunch of new material. We'll be at Irene's: January 24 January 31 February

Velvet
So we're back at Irene's starting this Tuesday for three weeks. The first Tuesday (January 24th) might be a good one. As usual it's open to all and there's no cover, but in addition The Ottawa Folklore Centre is having their belated xmas party at Irene's that night, and the staff and teachers are being encouraged to sit in. The quality of musicianship amongst the OFC people is pretty impressive and should offer a pile of great jamming. So, there is a good chance you'll hear members of The Murder Plans, Bluestone and The John Henrys, flamenco great James Cohen, singer/songwriter Kara Askwith, Bibbs will be doing more Django stuff, fingerstyle phenom Alan Marsden, mad musical genius Kurt Walther, Gaelic singer Anj Daub, and on and on.I can't guarantee everyone will be getting up to jam, but suffice to say there should be a big variety of quality playing on Tuesday.Drink up and tip heavily. Hope to see some of you there.

Going to JJ Grey and Mofro tonight but wouldn't mind stoping by your gig first if i can see you guys play a few songs. Let me know if you have any idea. What time do the festivities start. Velvet
Thanks for playing some more music when we showed up last night after Mofro. It was a great way to cap off the night. :thumbup:Aloha,BradNo problem! That was lots of fun and we would have kept right on going had Doug not started to lose his voice. As it was the music went almost until 2am (we usually end around midnight). Nice that Mofro was there to hear us as well. The sit-ins were awesome. Bibbs and I did three tunes together, Ben and Angie from Bluestone played a couple of songs from their upcoming album, Alan Marsden just absolutely floored the room with a nylon string extravaganza, Brendan Alistone did some some songs with Kurt Walther (who played with almost everybody), Paulie from the Dusty Drifters played with his old roommate Luke (who plays guitar with Jesse Greene), and even guitar repair guy extraordinaire Brian Doubledam played a few tunes, including a clever reworking of Keep On Rockin' Me Baby by Steve Miller. It was a really special night of music, it's a shame Bradm didn't record this one (smiley). Two more Tuesdays.
