...yesterday was just so damn quiet....so what's on your mind???

I'm thinking....couple more weeks and we're into March....maybe the weather will improve...not much else...

Posted

The problem was that I wasn't at work and therefore didn't have access to a computer! Hux, you just missed me! Today should be much better!

What's up for this week folks?

I should let you Ottawan's know that Dana's big Birthday bash is this Saturday! We're still trying to decide on the venues, but expect dinner and music. Any sugestions?

It's not so much your "What's on your mind?" as "What's your mind on?" In my case, this includes, but is not limited to:

  • Pacific Standard Time
  • Miller Genuine Draft, in 16oz plastc bottles, consumed, legally, strolling down East Tropicana Blvd.
  • 10+ hours of some of the best music I've ever heard, packed into 50 hours of one of the funnest weekends I've ever had

As mind-blowing as Phish was (and it was; the second night "Piper" was...well, indescribably), the stuff that happened at the moe. after-shows was crazier: Dickey Betts in first night set I, Dickey Betts and Mike Gordon in first night, set II, some guy from Tesla for first night encore ("Sweet Emotion"), the "Timmy Tucker" from second night, and the "Karma Police" (radiohead) encore second night.

I got up this morning at an hour earlier than I had gone to bed the previous two days (nights?).

I'm at work now, and, thanks to the free coffee here, and am surprisingly moderately productive.

I'm thinking of jamming openly tonight. Who's with me?

Aloha,

Brad

P.S. Nice list, MarcO; it's probably the best though-enumeration I've seen of late.

Karma Police by moe. was the shiznit. Best encore ever and best surprise ever.

Phish killed the crowd with their craptacular encore second night.

That's what's on my mind.

I watched a bit of that extravaganza last night..."living with Michael Jackson" and I wasn't shocked by him, but I was by everyone else around!

People FREAK out around him. Anyone who is older than a little kid freaks out around him and turn into maniacs.

It's no wonder he likes to hang out with kids on ferriswheels. They seem to treat him like a regular person.

First of all....Good mornining all [big Grin]

Being day three of complete sickness here I don't have too much on the mind.

But.................

-the cost of a lawyer

-missing two days of work

-a single line of "Old Dan's records"

-S.B (as always) [Frown]

-the N. Korea situation

-what color to get on my neck tattoo

-the Spring Shaker and all my east coast friends

-Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra

- my brother

I guess I have a few things goin' on after all [smile]

Have a good one.

Why is no one talking about THIS???

2: Down With Disease > Seven Below > Down With Disease > Anything But Me > Piper > Down With Disease > Makisupa Policeman, Character Zero

No, he's not. That's set II from Sunday night. About 20 minutes into "Piper", bsherman and I were looking at each, totally agog, asking, "Is this still 'Piper'?"

Set I was fun, too: the "David Bowie" that opened* it up had some downright scary parts (including some weird vocal thing about 2/3 through).

Aloha,

Brad

* Except for maybe a tease (?) of "Night Speaks To A Woman".

Yep that's the word, take as you want but I am in contact with a few people everyday who play in some east coast band [Confused] and this was the word I got.

I think its a great idea to bring people who would normally not attend a show like GTB into the loop and its a great thing for those boys also.

I love the fact that the scene is crossing the genres.

But thats just me and my opinion.

David Bowie > Catapult > David Bowie

SICKO!

If anyone can get Wasabi Collective and tND on the same bill in Southern Ontario, I'd.... I'd.... well, I'd be very happy about that! [Eek!]

I hope the GTB/tND tour works out to everyone's benefit.

Great thread, i'm having a terrible day, i can't get one thought off my mind.

Why is my good friend going out with my ex-girlfriend

I'm also wondering why Steve Earle decided to cover The Rolling Stones "Dead Flowers". It's one of my favorite Stones tunes and I've heard a lot of different artists cover it like Cowboy Junkies and Guns N's Roses. Steve Earle has the slide guitar parts there but it's still really strange to me.
