  1. Joel definitely wasn't the original drummer for the Fat Cats, but he was probably the longest-serving - and the best!
  2. The latest single is pretty awesome, I think.
  3. I'll be the dick who points out that it's actually hyun-day, not hyun-die.
  4. One of the dudes is doing a set at This Ain't Hollywood for the annual Joe Strummer tribute weekend (Easter weekend).
  5. Yeah, House of Lies is pretty great. Not sure if it is on Netflix or not, but Turn (on AMC) is really quite good. Starring the Billy Elliott kid, but all growed up.
  6. You know what they all look like anyway, and they're not that pretty. Hope the sound sounds good!
  7. I'm perfectly aware that this refers to Del McCoury, but every year I see this and momentarily think it's a festival for Del, that bonkers angry guy who used to post here all the time back in the day. That freak used to spice things up on this board. Nostalgia...
  8. Whew! I'm off the hook, then!
  9. I'm relying on my memories from the early '90s, which are admittedly hazy. If the same rules were used this time around as were used back in the day, you're only allowed to submit money orders from the post office.
  10. No, of course you do. But you have to pay a fee to the post office for every money order that you get, and you have to include a separate money order for each show (if I remember correctly from back in the day). The fees aren't refundable when you take the money orders back to the post office for your refund. If you've sent in enough requests, you've probably paid a sizable amount of money in fees alone.
  11. I am also reminded of the time I stood in Jackson Square overhearing a girl explain to her friend that she just figured out that the song wasn't about a girl begging her boyfriend, Jason Waterfalls, not to leave.
  12. That was pretty bland, for sure. Weren't sure if you were objecting to the song or the performance. (Sometimes this board has a bit of an unreasonable fear of pop songs.)
  13. What's the problem? That wasn't the most engaging version I've ever heard, but 'Waterfalls' is a great pop song.
  14. I'm slowly sort of starting to possibly come around on this. Far from his best, but maybe better that I had originally given credit for.
  15. The new Modest Mouse single is pretty awesome.
  16. There were a bunch! Plus, there were at least three cover songs (Julia, Light My Fire, The Times They Are A-Changin').
  17. Well. That did good things to my ears. Gawddamn, that's a great combination of players.
  18. Also good: Lucinda Williams - Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone Brad Mehldau & Marc Guiliana - Mehliana: Taming The Dragon Ray LaMontagne - Supernova Allah-Las - Worship The Sun
  19. Me too. I'm not a Sinatra fan - just can't get into the arrangements or the delivery - but dude recorded a lot of first-rate songs.
  20. Spoon - They Want My Soul The New Pornographers - Brill Bruisers MSMW - Juice Leonard Cohen - Popular Problems ...and, the best reissue, Bob Dylan & The Band - The Complete Basement Tapes
  21. I love that he now owes CBC $18,000 in legal fees after he dropped his $55-million lawsuit against them. Icing, meet cake!
