  1. Yeah, sorry I missed you guys. You walked right by us on your way to your seats but you were too fast for me. Set break was all about the "fresh air." The Kruger Brothers are such amazingly talented musicians; it was great to get such an up-close view ... until my friend pointed out that one of Uwe's testicles was hanging out on full display for the whole show. That was a little awkward.
  2. This Saturday, folks. I've seen the Kruger Brothers a few times now and am really looking forward to yet another opportunity to catch these string wizards in action. Check em out! http://www.krugerbrothers.com/

  4. Tony Furtado I saw him play at Barrymores a couple of years back to a crowd of about twelve. He played all night anyway, much to the chagrin of the bar staff and the delight of the few fans there. He plays a mean guitar, too.
  5. Super Dave Osbourne told this one on Q this morning on CBC radio...
  6. I'm so sorry that my diction isn't to your liking, TB. I'm not afraid of the word at all. In fact, while I wouldn't describe myself as a fucking hip-hop head, I would admit to being something of a hip-hop enthusiast. The hip is implied in the trip, and the hop is there, full stop.
  7. I've noticed a few threads promoting the coming of the mighty, mighty Herbaliser to Southern Ontario, and there has been some discussion of Friday night's Ottawa show, but not much really. Listen people, this is not a show to miss. The Herbaliser have been pumping out quality trip hop/acid jazz/downtempo funk-based beats and grooves since the early '90s on the Ninja Tunes label. They are late night down and dirty, dark and sweaty dance floor movers that will make you want to get your groove on. In my opinion this is definitely the best show in town this weekend, and will probably stand out as one of the best of the fall season. That's my schpeel, hope to see some of you there. http://www.herbaliser.com/
  8. Colbert called Palin and brood a family of grifters. I think he had it right. As much as I find just about everything about the Alaskan governor to be disgusting/disturbing, it put a smile on my face when this story broke. Made me like her just a little bit. Anyone who squanders the funds of the GOP and their wealthy supporters is all right by me. At least in that regard.
  9. Any chance we can ditch the embedded No Talk Express counter now? It's past the expiry date.
  10. So now your putting gayness on the same level as crack-headedness? Dude, I'm sure you are not a dick. Possibly you suffer from foot-in-mouth disease?
  11. What Velvet said. The next best thing to seeing the Talking Heads. Velvet, get yourself a copy of Remain In Light pronto.
  12. Hey Bww, sorry to hear about that. Having someone steal your kid's stuff must be even more frustrating than losing your own. I feel for you.
  13. Then don't be one. When someone has been recently victimized, and they are venting to their "friends", the last thing they need to hear is some self-righteous moralizer talking down to them.
  14. I have an extra ticket for tonight at Metropolis if anyone is interested. Leaving Ottawa at 5:30. $50.
  15. Keep it up. That was a nice read, Velvet.

    Poutine

The Russians beside the Dom make a decent poutine. I'm not claiming it's the greatest ever but it sure does its job well post midnight. "The Best Chiptruck" beside Ada's Diner is killer. Opinions may differ but facts are facts and rubberdinghy is wrong. The poutine at Bank and Sunnyside is barely passable when hammered, let alone sober. On the way back from Montebello we stopped for poutine that was absolutely delicious. They had about a dozen varieties but the classic was pefect poutine, squeeky curds and all. The small was enormous at $3.50.
  17. Lazy journalist. Shouldn't you be doing your own homework?
  18. There's hope then. As long as they get rid of Johnny Vegas and hire somebody who knows how to book quality music acts. Not that I've got anything against retro 90's nights and over-priced Genesis cover bands ...
