  1. a friend got a pulled pork sammy yesterday from somewhere and there was a recognizable piece of snout in it.
  2. The next 7 shows (at least) are cancelled too.
  3. Boss (2011 series, on download sites). Super good. Veep Comedy Bang Bang (only 2 episodes so far) Frozen Planet If you haven't watched Party Down you really should Perfect Couples was funny Portlandia Sports Show with Norm MacDonald (out of date but still funny) Treme * all above shows can be downloaded Aaron Sorkin's new series debuts next week, pumped for that.
  4. If the investigations took less than eternity perhaps regulations that come as a result of said investigations could be implemented and enforced sooner. The Ottawa collapse is still under investigation.
  5. I hope that unattributed unproven account taken from a social media site is wrong, because if that's what happened it's a fucking scandal and those responsible should be in jail. Not to mention business sanctions etc.
  6. None of Caribou's gear is on the stage in that pic Low Roller posted.
  7. if you go by the Alanis Morissette definition of irony, sure.
  8. 2 more thoughts 1. Between that touring drummer and Selway holy shit. I am not sure why they need the 2nd drummer as Selway is a robot drum machine, but those guys are super-duper and make it look so easy. He doesn't waste any motion and isn't at all flashy but man can he play. 2. The Bell Centre is such a well-planned arena compared to some I've been to **coughscotiabankplacecough**. Instead of wide open concourses that just encourage people to hang out there are narrow passages that keep people moving. Instead of a bathroom with one small entrance and one small entrance there are huge hallways that turn into bathrooms with no traffic jams etc. I had never paid attention to the arena before and was impressed. Also took a picture next to the creepy bust of Denis Savard, my favourite player growing up.
  9. Gazette Review Funny how the Gazette mentions the 'ever awful' sound at the Bell Centre - I was impressed with how good it did sound, compared to Scotiabank Place where I see the majority of my arena shows. Only my second show at Bell Centre (first was Peter Gabriel in 2002(?)) but I thought it sounded fine for an arena. Set list: 1. Bloom 2. There There 3. Kid A 4. Morning Mr. Magpie 5. The Gloaming 6. Separator 7. I Might Be Wrong 8. Staircase 9. Pyramid Song 10. Climbing Up the Walls 11. Nude 12. Lotus Flower 13. Paranoid Android 14. Feral 15. Little By Little 16. Idioteque Encore No. 1: 17. How to Disappear Completely 18. The Daily Mail 19. Myxomatosis 20. Reckoner Encore No. 2: 21. All I Need 22. Street Spirit (Fade Out) 23. True Love Waits (tease)/ Everything In Its Right Place
  10. Just looked it up; yes, she was a member of Polyphonic Spree
  11. Not sure about Spree connection but she played with Sufjan Stevens for quite a bit.
  12. Great show, awesome seats. Super day.
  13. I asked the head Polaris dude (Steve Jordan) that question and the answer is yes, there were lots of advance copies distributed to jury members.

  15. Some great albums on there. I'm calling Sandro Perri the winner, closely followed by Japandroids, Handsome Furs, Patrick Watson, Joel Plaskett, Bahamas, Cadence Weapon and Feist. I should listed to more of the list though, probably only heard about half the albums listed. (How is Cadence Weapon's album eligible? Eligibility period ended the day after his album came out - enough people heard it and loved it enough to get it on the long list in a day? Or were there THAT MANY advance copies out there?)
  16. Or pre-sale allotment has been sold.
  17. Can you provide some butcher paper or should I bring my own?
  18. That's not ideal if you have to pay people for 2 nights of work and rent a venue for 2 nights. Not to mention paying an artist (if this is an artist event) for 2 nights plus hotel, per diems etc. And if he's asking for a venue for a non-music event (like a wedding reception or something similar) having it over 2 nights isn't doable.
  19. Same with Centrepointe Theatre.
  20. I went to the reveal party last night - the food lineup is equally good!
  21. 9-11pm according to schedule at NXNE website
  22. This is interesting: (emphasis is mine)
  23. Yeah, the band took her name. Rest assured in this case it's 3 Ottawa musicians on stage, not a lone rower.
