    MMJ Official Bootlegs

So, has anybody listened to the official bootlegs from 8/3 and 8/4? If so, what did you think of the sound quality?

    MMJ Official Bootlegs

    Yeah, that one sounds good.
  3. Has anyone listened to the official bootlegs released from the 8/3 and 8/4 Red Rocks shows? The setlists are amazing but (it might just be me) but the sound quality is so muddy / muffled / bad for an official release. Any thoughts?
  4. Yup, agreed. Scary times.
  5. I think a big part of this election will be Republican and Tea Party anger over the health care reform. The right is VERY angry about this and the wealthy are not afraid to be very vocal and put their support / money where their mouth is. I spent a lot of time last year in a very right-wing area and the anger and vitriol directed at Obama is pretty shocking - given that these elections come down to money I won't be surprised if it's a much closer result than we think. Helps Obama that the GOP picked a moron for their candidate, but still...

    Maiden!

Toronto Maiden fans with time machines appreciate your pep talk Booche.
  7. Deltron was amazing, such a great show. Really cleansed the palate from the awful A$AP Rocky and Lauryn Hill shows.
  8. A$AP Rocky, Lauryn Hill (greatest hits show with full band, not full crazy like last time), Chali 2na if I can tolerate him. Then Deltron 3030. So pumped.
  9. Sexy times with Denis Armstrong: in which he refers to both Seal and Norah Jones as sexy in one review.

  11. Two stages going at once is at least as unprofessional (I'd say even more) as enforcing a curfew between songs that the performer agreed to. Cutting one stage = upsetting 1 artist and 1 audience. Letting it go = upsetting the other artist and both audiences. But oh well, it's done. Tough situation. I'm going Tuesday for Zeus, ASAP Rocky and Deltron 3030. Hope it's good. Hope the stink of Nickleback is gone. Oh - anyone see the hatchet job Sun writer Tony Spears did on The Wooden Sky? Ug.
  12. Sounds like the stage manager needs to grow a spine. Total dick move by Seal.

  14. You'd definitely recognize a few. Run to the Hills, Fear of the Dark, Children of the Damned....
  15. Apparently Gillian Welch played with Conor Oberst tonight.
  16. First Dave Lowery now Mike Doughty. Love it that (some of) my musical heroes are smart and literate too.
  17. Kathleen Edwards will likely sing with the Arkells tonight, should that float your boat.
  18. All I know is Monahan gambled on this EDM thing, booked the biggest act in the genre, got spoiled with perfect weather, yet still only 12,000 people showed up.
  19. One of the papers said there were 12,000 people for the mainstage headliner, in perfect weather, on opening night. Good work Monahan. Brutal.
  20. 1. According to the graphic on this page Bluesfest is expecting / projecting 100,000 fewer patrons than last year. How did this not become news? 2. Just when you thought Denis Armstrong was the worst Ottawa reviewer (perhaps tied with the recent Jazzfest ruminations of "Bulldog" Ken Gray), along comes Tony Spears. Horrible.
  21. Yeah I mentioned Party Down above - it's so good I will add to Kev's endorsement with yet another one. It was just 2 seasons, maybe 20 half-hour episodes total. So great.
  22. Sadies in addition to Patti Smith / Los Lobos, according to Exclaim.ca story online.
  23. Can you clarify that post? Are you saying that the company providing the stage for Bluesfest 2012 provided another stage in the last 10 years, in Ottawa, that also collapsed or was compromised? If so, that's a big deal.....
  24. Just announced at 8pm Sunday - The Acorn are playing a free show tonight at Babylon in Ottawa. Starts at 11pm.
