  1. Who's got the stats to back it up?....Please post your fav. shortstop with their stats..
  2. Soon it will all be academic when memory becomes cheap enough that everything can be wav and all lossly format can be done with. It is almost there. I use flac as it is a zipped wav file. I hate apples "lossless format" totally useless with anything but Itunes and Ipods. I too hope a better player appears... Right now I think when I have the dough I'll buy this... C owon
  3. I am very torn when it comes to the Biscuits. I love thier jams, which are well crafted and filled with creative textures and energy. I however hate thier songs, which seem to be an afterthought. Everytime I listen to a live show or see one in person, I seem to get wonderfully lost in the jam only to be rudely awakened by some weak triad, 3 chord tune with barely passable delivery. It seems their songs and their choices of chordal harmony do not mesh well with their improvisations. The two seem totally separate and not symbiotic at all. All the same I will see them live anytime to watch them jam, but I cringe everytime they sing a song. Just my opinion, but does anyone else feel like this?
  4. Do the Jays haver any hope realistically to squeak into the playoffs or is it a lost cause?
  5. Will the new ones handle FLAC or is Apple still int he dark ages. Will they also be able to "drag and drop" like most players or is the cumersome "I-tunes" still manditoery? Anyone know?
  6. Bo Diddley is stable after heart attack 59 minutes ago GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Bo Diddley was in stable condition at a Florida hospital after suffering a heart attack, his publicist said Tuesday. ADVERTISEMENT The 78-year-old singer-guitarist complained of dizziness and nausea during a routine medical checkup Friday, said publicist Susan Clary. She said Diddley suffered a heart attack after being taken to North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. The hospital is near his hometown of Archer. Clary said the musician was in stable condition at the hospital's cardiac care unit after spending the weekend in intensive care. "He is conscious," she said. "The situation is very serious." In May, Diddley was hospitalized in Nebraska after suffering a stroke after casino performances in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was soon transferred to Florida. Diddley, with his black glasses and low-slung guitar, has been an icon in the music industry since he topped the R&B charts with "Bo Diddley" in 1955. His other hits include "Who Do You Love," "Before You Accuse Me," "Mona" and "I'm a Man." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and received a lifetime achievement Grammy Award in 1998.
  7. Just for those who are interested.... The Chameleon Project set will start around 12:15 in the Saloon and go until we loose our minds or you loose yours...whichever comes first... We aim to close out this years CTMF, like no other!
  8. This is tyhe problem with Nugent. Love his guitar playing (Damn Yankees Excluded) but I can't stand his politics... Even if these are replicas in this day and age I can't beleive he was not arrested. He did utter threats and I promise you if any of us went crusing around with machine gun replicas we would be taken in for questioning ASAP. Shut up and play yer guitar TED!
  9. wow! Didn't see that coming. He must be one of those guys with a successful career but some inner sadness of trauma success can't fix. Hope he gets well love his comedic acting.

  13. I have that album and other Lee Dorsey records. His version of Allan Toussaint's "Sneaking Salley through the Alley", is killer!
  14. Bitchin'! It has been quite a while since the last Toronto show. I'm in!
  15. I thought this was going to be a thread about Jay-Z.
  16. I liked the show but thought the sound was questionable on the laws. Almost no bass. It was all worth it for the Terrapin Flyer....you don't hear that everyday. I bumped into Edger aka Sara too in the lot. Nice to see other Canadian kids there.
  17. New directions are new beginning and offer new hope. You may be Jay Cleary on your driver's license but to us you will always be the Jaydawg..... Call a brother.
  18. I live on Queen St. and have noticed many music stores go down.... Penguin is not alone...recently Acid Records and 2 the Beat also closed. Sign of the times, the old formula does not work. Why should I have to pay $27 for an import CD when 90% of that cost is shipping and storage for the product. Why can't I walk into a store order it, then the burn it to CD or load it on to my I-Pod type device and then high quality print me a copy of the artwork for a reasonable fee. If that were the model I think more stores would survive. People still like going into a shop, bu this old "brick and mortar" model is broken.
  19. Great band. Love to see them up here. I've seren them before in the US and I'd go and pay $20...but getting another 200+ people in Toronto for that price would be iffy. It's tough when these US bands that are big in the jamband scene there expect the same money here when the scene is waay smaller and not as developed. again great band.
  20. Couldn't agree more. Fuck, Stalker/CIA info gathering-book....aka FACEBOOK
  21. The US is in a recession, but they have learned the valuable lesson that if you don't call it a recession, it doesn't impact as bad on the public... The cost of the war is killig them.
  22. I don't know about "Hot Dog" by Zeppelin. Sure it is their only country song, but it was not a hit nor is it in the top 10 songs average people think of when they think Zeppeiln.... Anyways.... #254: But that's not what they sound like: Songs widely associated with a given artist that aren't an accurate representation of the artist's overall sound. 1. Blind Melon - No Rain 2. White Stripes - Little Ghost 3. Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry Be Happy 4. The Gourds - Gin & Juice 5. Led Zeppelin - Hot Dog 6. The Grateful Dead - Touch Of Grey 7. Stevie Wonder - I just called to say I love you 8. Genesis - I Can't Dance 9. Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage 10. Phish - Free 11. Los Lobos- La Bamba 12. ... gretzky waits in front of the net, kurri passes, gretzky scores! ...
  23. I just a little reading and searching on the net and I read from a few sources that when Anthony and Hagar accepted the VH induction to the R&R hall of fame they both mentioned ED's alchaol abuse was making him a different and and they wished they had thier friend back and the prospect of a tour with either of them was not possible in his current state. On another note I also read Wolfgang has only been playing bass for...3 MONTHS! Whaaaaat!!! Now I am worried. Ed says his son is a prodigy and up tot he task (which is possible I suppose), but three months and right to stadium tours...yikes..... In any case I do hope an effort was made to get Anthony into the fold as he is the original bassist.
  24. I agree with you that the more Hagar sang with VH the more generic they became.. I do however think David Lee Roth has two bitchin' solo albums that are full of humour, great covers and some killer playing by Steve Via and others... Crazy from the Heat... and... Eat 'em and smile... I also think David Lee Roth has a better voice than Hagar....at least in his prime.
