  1. This makes me smile. That happiness felt during a mindbending jam is perfectly summed up by these words of his, which would always make the grin on one's face just a little bit wider! in recent years this board has struggled as many folks dropped off, but Brad kept at it, and probably accounted for half the posts on here! I think the rest of us are going to need to step it up now if we want it to continue. So let's all try to post more often about shows we're going to, music we're listening to, stuff we're doing, and share more stories, photos, and thoughts.
  2. What a huge and tragic shock. This leaves such a big hole in our lives and hearts. I just cannot imagine going out in Ottawa and not seeing him there. I used to think I went to a lot of concerts until I met Brad! He was an inspiration, so dedicated to the love of music and always sharing it with everyone. He was one of the first people I met when I moved to Ottawa, of course, as he was always at any show that I attended. He also introduced me to Velvet, for which I cannot thank him enough. We will miss him so much. Rest in peace Brad.
  3. RIP. I'm not sure if I ever saw him in anything other than TPB but I loved him so much on that show. So sad.
  4. Wow! That was awesome. It was worth the wait!
  5. Thank you for the suggestions, folks! Went a little bit off my planned course but had an absolutely amazing time. We were blessed with perfect weather all week, yay! Spent 5 nights in St. John's... 2 of the days were spent at Quidi Vidi hanging out with a fisherman friend of Velvet's (and then his friends, and eventually half the town). Another night we went to Topsail beach for a bonfire with some other new awesome friends. And a boat ride around Bell island showed us some fascinating scenery. Of course we also checked out the sights - Signal Hill, Cape Spear, George St., Terry Fox memorial, had some amazing seafood, etc. We left town and drove around the NW part of Avalon peninsula looking for Velvet's ancestors, tromping through little seaside graveyards and towns. Spent a night in Dildo and then two in Port Rexton/Trinity/Bonavista area which was our favourite spot. Gorgeous hikes and a damn fine brewery there for the evenings. Can't wait to go back! I will post some pics once I get organized.
  6. They have done a good job this year of blocking and fencing so that you can't see or hear from outside. I walked the perimeter tonight and couldn't find anywhere that I could hear well enough to bother staying. Ah well! Really want to see Rodriguez, alas I cannot go that day. Have fun!
  7. Planning to catch NR tonight (but from outside, 87$ is too steep for me) maybe see ya around
  8. The Steep jam was also great, how did I forget about that already!
  9. Looking for any skank recommendations if you have 'em! i have never been there, and plan to stay a few nights and then spend 4 days checking out the Bonavista peninsula and Terra Nova NP. Hotel selections outside of the city are limited so I thought I'd ask if anyone had been to the area and had a memory of a cool B&B, restaurant, etc. Hoping to spend 2 nights in/near the park, and the other 2 nights somewhere along the way... Can go farther afield if there is something awesome but I am trying not to overstretch the time. Recommendations for food, music etc. for the city are welcome too! Thanks!
  10. Yep Yep. Velvet came to love IPAs, NY pizza, and Phish all in one weekend. It's a great time to be alive.
  11. The run is so epic because every show is hot! So many great moments. I love the goofiness throughout the run too, such fun. Most Events Aren't Planned was pretty awesome.
  12. Need tickets also, after Rob! Cheers.
  13. We arrived in NYC on Tuesday, the donut flavour was Maple, and we got an O Canada opener (which we called, of course). what in the world... It was an awesome moment for us and so perfect to kick off our little run. I heart Phish :-*
  14. Man, love the It's Ice jam from last night. Yeah Page! So I am making up some shirts for my friends doing the run. If anyone wants one just let me know (probably be around $10) have fun everyone!
  15. Great Bluesfest! I only went 3 nights, but luckily they were not the rainy nights! Really enjoyed LCD Soundsystem, Delicate Steve, Muse and best of all Tom Petty. Light rig was so sick. It was also great to see so many friends there as in yesteryear.
  16. Hi all, i'm looking for a pair of good seats (100 level not behind stage) for the Saturday 8/5 show at MSG. If anyone has extras please let me know! Cheers :-)
