  1. Yep...one advantage I got...teaching/semester ends early so I might even be somewhat recovered and rested by these dates. Look out!
  2. hmmmm didn't catch this was happening. This will be Great!
  3. Awesome Mark. Great to have you poking around these parts as of late. Unfortunately I have other plans tomorrow but hope the show goes well. Guess we will have to continue to be patient re phish festival...
  4. A recent statement from his family. Love to Petty and all those who feel the struggle: http://www.tompetty.com/statement
  5. Holding my interest for sure. Another great lineup and grateful to see they are keeping on. Hard to imagine not going really
  6. Passed away from unexplained causes at the age of 46. A haunting voice and definitely an imprint on my early adolescence https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/dolores-oriordan-the-cranberries-singer-dead-at-46-w515435
  7. Nice! I'm hoping it will get added to the peach lineup given CRB and Marcus are already there
  8. Hope these are going well for you guys. Does Boathouse get a good steady crowd on Thursday nights? Out of the loop since I moved out of Waterloo
  9. Guess I should take this time to add that Robinson is also going to be revisiting some Black Crowes material with a new outfit entitled "As the Crow Flies" involving guitarists Marcus King and Audley Freed, keyboardist Adam MacDougall, bassist Andy Hess, and drummer Tony Leone. They have a string of dates but nothing really around these parts. https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/01/chris-robinson-announces-new-band-as-the-crow-flies-shares-tour-dates/
  10. Some sweet sounding pedal steel in this new outfit called the Green Leaf Rustlers "purveyors of cosmic Cali country music" https://www.jambase.com/article/green-leaf-rustlers-announce-inaugural-tour I guess their inaugural tour is going on while Neal Casal and Adam MacDougall are busy with Circles Around the Sun who also have a couple gigs this month and are making a new album. https://www.circlesaroundthesun.com/ While I hope CRB (Chris Robinson Brotherhood) remains a strong vibrant core to any and all offshoots I just love anything these boys are a part of, and if the tentacles spread through side-projects I am all for that.
  11. Is that an elusive double negative?
  12. Happiest of birthdays on this milestone. Sounds like you are in a good place. All the best!
  13. For a few shows apparently anyway. Sounds like his son Duane Betts (who has toured with Dawes band) will also be involved. https://www.jambase.com/article/road-goes-forever-dickey-betts-ends-retirement
  14. A few dates have been released. Very interesting. I assume duo means no backing band? https://livemusicblog.com/2017/12/10/bob-weir-and-phil-lesh-announce-2018-tour-as-a-duo/
  15. What a fun night of music. Toadhouse sounded fantastic. I think they have been secretly playing together all along. Gotta say Codi (drums) and Dan (bass) are in a million bands together and boy does it show. The growth has been amazing to watch. WCID was a lot of fun. Thackway has naturally fallen into that group of players and he seemed particularly inspired last night. I thought it was some of the best flow I've seen come out of him. Nice to meet you for the first time Canned Beats.
  16. This coming Saturday folks. Whose Cat is Dead encompasses band members from The Fat Cats, Days of You, Zuffalo. And the return of Toadhouse is a fun prospect as well. https://www.facebook.com/events/319187461889518/ Whose Cat Is Dead has risen from the ashes of the short-lived but much sought after band Burt's Cat Is Dead. With guitarist/singer Mike Filipowitsch moving overseas in June of this year Mark Thackway has stepped into some pretty big shoes. Luckily for the band and it's fans, Mark is a more than capable replacement. He is most likely the only player in the area that has the song knowledge, the chops, and the experience of journeying into faraway jams necessary to join this experienced core. Mark started in the scene almost 30 years ago with one of the original Canadian rock and jam bands, Days of You. Today, you may also know him as the guitar player/singer of the Jerry Garcia cover band, The Mark T Band.Mark joins Kim Manning (Connor Gains Band, Zuffalo) on keys and vocals, Mikey Vukovich (Connor Gains Band, Zuffalo, Jackets) on bass and vocals, and Adam Bernstein (Fat Cats – another of the original Canadian jam scene bands) behind the drums. The band is on a constant quest to offer a fresh take on these classic songs. Whose Cat is Dead knows just when to fill space with their infectious jams and when to offer an airy interlude. Toadhouse is back with a special hometown show! It's been a while since we've seen the boys together on stage. They are excited to team up with Whose Cat Is Dead for this show at the Casbah. Toadhouse is a Jam / Funk / Rock / Progressive Band from Hamilton, Ontario. Consisting of mostly Jam-rock originals, they use improvisation as a key tool in developing their sound.
  17. Bummer.... http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/john-mayer-hospitalized-for-emergency-appendectomy-w513382
  18. Enjoying his latest...Wish he was roaming a little closer https://www.williewatson.com/bio/
  19. Heya! Awesome to hear what you are up to and to see you back around these parts. Not sure I will be able to make it out unfortunately, but always like whatever you are part of! Agreed phunkyb
  20. I had such a great night. This band continues to grow and thicken the pot. Opted for cheaper seats and although ours were not great ended up with good friends dead centre in the front row of upper bowl right smack dab in the centre of that sacred geometry;) Great place to nestle in. Dancing in the streets was a great kickstarter. Ramble on rose and deep elem were deep twisted blues. FINALLY chimenti was rightfully turned up in the mix to work his delightful magic. Him and mayor really cooked up some nice moments. Whole band sounded great. Love having the old boys holding down the back. Oteil is just a happy groovy badass soul, and I thought Bobby was sharp focused and on point....sounding inspired and strong. Have to say the whole second set was a highlight. Particularly speedway dark star scarlet fire. Yes please. Hard rain felt right with all going down right now. Chill friendly staff and Detroit on the up and up. These guys are doing it imho
