  1. This is last year's thread. Pretty sure DD are confirmed for this year.
  2. Ahem! Tonin maybe we need to remedy this crime. All Good prelude? Twist my arm! Check your email when you get the chance ... I'm heading into summer holidays and am feeling as flexible as Gumby ... so feel free to twist right back. My stamina is trying to get a word to the wise in, but I'm not listening. I just can't see the logic in driving right past this show on our way down. I think it's safe to say consider me twisted.
  3. Looks cool. Definitely hitting up Bob's bash/shakedown party on the 7th though. Not sure who is all on the bill for that other than Fat Cats, Diesel Dog and Must Stash Hat. Dr. John plays the night before in the hammer after Stumbleweed I do believe. Will be a good weekend of music.
  4. Yeah it was a nice night for sure. Seeing Levon was definitely on my bucket list so it was nice to fulfill that. I was pretty exhausted going into it so by the end I was feeling pretty sapped. John Hiatt was okay. He had some great moments, but lots of cheesy ones too. But he's certainly enjoying himself up there which is always appreciated. Levon had a full band. Brass section, two guitarists, stand up bass, keys, two female vocalists (including his daughter). Nice full sound. I thought his daughter was great...cute, infectious little energy about her, and sweet vocals. Levon did a great job of pacing himself. He's definitely looking a little frail, which I was expecting, but his smile is sure contagious. When he busted it down at centre stage it was pure gold! He sang, but only sporadically throughout the night. Lots of passing off to others to hold down the vocals. So while the quantity of songs he sang was somewhat low (maybe five songs?) the quality sure was there, so I think he made the right trade-off. At the end he closed with I Shall Be Released which was beautiful and fitting. I was surprised at how little was played off his last two solo albums. In fact (correct me if I'm wrong) other than the Tennessee Jed cover I don't think they played anything off either album which I will admit I was a little dissapointed about. There's some gems that I would have loved to hear. But all and all I enjoyed the song selection. Lots of familiars (e.g. Deep Elem, Ophelia, Makes No Difference, The Weight, Chest Fever, etc) Truthfully I would have expected the one guitar player who did some singing throughout to have slightly better chops, but it was decent. All in all definitely memorable to be in Levon's presence. I suspect a trip down to Woodstock would be the perfect space to see him at his best. Maybe in the fall (livingstoned I'm winking at you)!
  5. Hope to make it into Fran's for a bevvy. Laur, will call your cell when we get close.

  7. Happy Birthday Aaron!! Keep on rockin' dude!
  8. Who's Gerry? I echo all of the above!!!! Although I get to see them at All Good it seems like a crime not to be checking out their Buffalo show...doesn't get much closer to the hammer than that these days.
  9. Is he supposed to be smiling in that pic?
  10. Will the dust from g20 be settled in time for this show? I'm thinking yes, but really don't know. Any ideas? Just wanting to make sure that we leave ourselves plenty of time just in case. I am SOOOO looking forward to this one!!! I can't believe I've never seen Levon before.
  11. Curious. Why 'two' cancellation fees? More than one phone?
  12. Twenty years older likely amounts to the need for greater incentive to justify grinding it out on the road too...it ain't all gravy I'm sure. Having said that I too lament the 'good ol' days' when we could get away with paying thirty bucks for a top notch show, park for five, and smuggle in half my rations for the night.

That is a TERRIBLE story Nibbler. I'm thankful I didn't get one iota of a whiff of that. I think a lot of the greybeards and traditionalists were appreciating our jams though judging by the number of them that stuck around to listen. My favourite of them all was that super sweet older lady that showed up earlier at our site asking Rusty to tune her relatively recently deceased husband's guitar up so that it could be played throughout the festival. She almost had me in tears.
  17. They're playing at the McLaughlin House (407 Colborne Street). :chug:

Wooo! That was a TOTAL blast. Amazing weather, amazing grounds, amazing company. The jam we had going around the fire was so, so good. Stand up bass, mandolins, banjos, fiddles, guitars, tons of sweet vocals. At one point there had to easily be 60+ people that gathered round for some listenin' Our son also had a fantastic time. Great swimming and lots of wonderful kiddies runnin' around. C-towns' daughter handled the kid's stage like a pro! I'd definitely go back. No lynch mob factor in my vicinity I'm happy to say. They would have had a hard time pushing through all the good vibes me thinks.
  19. Congratulations!! I'll be in Van for a few days in Sept. Will likely be staying with Tyler...maybe I can pop by and meet the little one!
