  1. Thanks for your suggestions, hamilton and bokonon! I'll definitely have to check those out! I really enjoyed the other two by him.. And just because it's springtime, the flowers are in bloom, and I'm feeling quite dreamy, I just finished reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.. (for about the 50th time in my life! Ha..) These stories never get old to me, and I love letting my imagination run wild while reading these stories.. Anyone else love these adventures as much as me?? Wonderland is REAL!
  2. My parents in Kentucky said they felt it.. Nothing here in NC, though..
  3. When are you getting down here, Amy? Are you going to stay in the area a bit before or after the fest? We have to meet up most definitely!
  4. Just finished Wampeters, Foma & Granfalloons.. I enjoyed this one a lot! This was a collection of some of Vonnegut's short stories, speeches, reviews, interviews, etc.. I really like the way he writes, humor with a bit of sadness to it.. It's really unexplainable until you read his work.. bokonon, which of his other books would you recommend me to read next??
  5. Hey bokonon, I think we're the only 2 that read BOOKS on here.. And I think I know where you got your username.. I just finished reading Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.'s Cat's Cradle, and I loved it! It was both hilarious and insightful.. Another kudos to my dad for giving me yet another amazing book from his collection.. I'm ready to start another book by Vonnegut: Wampeters Foma & Granfalloons!

  7. Have a GRATE one! Hope to see you at Gratefulfest again!
  8. One day about 25 years from now When we've all grown cold from wondering how Oh, we'll all sit down at the city dump And talk about the Goodle days Oh, you'll pass a joint and I'll pass the wine And anything good from down the line Alot of good things went down one time Back in the Goodle days And the good old days are past and gone Alot of good people have done gone on That's my life when I sing this song about Back in the Goodle days Sometimes I like to think that we're almost done And there ain't nothing left we can figure out And I guess it must have seemed alot more like that Back in the Goodle days But when you gotta go, you gotta go There's always somebody don't you know Hangin' round sayin' "Well, I told you so" Back in the Goodle days Oh we'll all join hands and we'll gather round When that old guitar starts to make that sound Alot of good things went down downtown Back in the Goodle days Squeezin' love with the people that we hadn't even met Out for anything we could get Oh we did it then and we'll do it yet Back in the Goodle days And the good old days are past and gone Alot of good people have done gone on That's my life when I sing this song about Back in the Goodle days
  9. Oh, we'll both be there, don't you worry!! Can't wait to see ya!
  10. Haha.. Ok.. Yes, I remember a lot of chairs there! But there was a line that they drew on the ground so that any chair in front of it had to be one of those low to the ground chairs. The dancing seemed to be right behind that line, but nobody seemed to care! Sorry, just reminiscing about that awesome fest.. BTW Schwa, lots of bluegrass here in Asheville, so get your ass down here!
  11. Is that Telluride Bluegrass festival?? I was there 3 years in a row (a few years back), and yes, lots of lawnchairs.. But lots of dancing, too!! That may very well be the most beautiful place for a Bluegrass festival!! Always a friggin great line-up as well!
  12. So I'm resurfacing this thread.. I just finished reading Abbie Hoffman's Woodstock Nation.. What a funny and interesting book!! I knew a bit about him, but I never read anything he had written until now (I found the book in my dad's collection awhile ago, but just got around to reading it..) The book was published in October 1969, just a few months after Woodstock, and he talks about his time there and also all about his arrests that year, including his famous arrest with the Chicago Eight (which turned into the Chicago Seven at the trial, but when the book was written it was still 8..) He was quite a crazy and brilliant guy, very interesting! A very energetic guy, and "I suppose all this energy results from being an anarchist, Jewish, bottle-fed, stubborn, beautiful, white, spoiled brat, dedicated, male, young, old, optimistic, Sagittarius, schmuck, revolutionist, communist, god, self-destructive, egotistical, horny, show-off, paranoid-schitzophrenic, naive, fucked-up, big-mouth, not serious, brilliant, honest Yippie leader and non-leader and a whole lot more from Concord, Mass., and the Bronx, New York.* (*Each descriptive phrase appeared in somebody's review of me [Abbie]. I wonder what critics see when they get up in the morning and look in the mirror.)" That's a quote from the book.. I look forward to reading more of his writing..
  13. Does he spit when he sings? That's key...
  14. That's just awesome!! I love the lead singer's shoes..
  15. Helplessly hoping Her harlequin hovers nearby Awaiting a word Gasping at glimpses Of gentle true spirit He runs, wishing he could fly Only to trip at the sound of good-bye Wordlessly watching He waits by the window And wonders At the empty place inside Heartlessly helping himself to her bad dreams He worries Did he hear a good-bye? Or even hello? They are one person They are two alone They are three together They are for each other Stand by the stairway You'll see something Certain to tell you confusion has its cost Love isn't lying It's loose in a lady who lingers Saying she is lost And choking on hello They are one person They are two alone They are three together They are for each other
  16. It's an amazing spring day here today!! It's sunny and 67 F (I think that's around 18-20 C ?) I should be inside unpacking and all that stuff, but I'm finding it hard to be inside when it's so beautiful outside!
  17. Awesome!! Yes, Schwa, there is something irresistable about Canadian men to us American gals.. Just carry around a Canadian flag and you'll be sure to bag a wife! Can't wait to see ya there!
  18. Have a great one!! Happy birthday!
