  1. sloth>YEM to start! yep great night so far!
  2. holy crap! i wish i had stayed on the bus a bit longer to what i hear was a pretty empty Albany show! the show had been moved and floors were apparently VERY cheap outside the show Furthur Times-Union Center Albany, NY November 15, 2011 Set One Here Comes Sunshine > Row Jimmy Big Bad Blues Magnolia Mountain New Minglewood Blues Dire Wolf Loose Lucy Cosmic Charlie Set Two Passenger Here Comes The Sun No More Do I Estimated Prophet > spicey jam > Cryptical Envelopment > The Other One > another one jam > The Other One > Cryptical Envelopment > All Along The Watchtower > Stella Blue Uncle John's Band liver left body jam Not Fade Away > Brokedown Palace why oh why is archive.org down right now? lol
  3. Oops! The buffalo show is up on archive.org btw.
  4. Just listening to an aud of the buffalo, and its just as solid as it was live:) gotta say how impressive I think chimenti and russo are in this line-up. Russo is just massive! VERY nice (to me) punchy drum sound and chimenti is great on all the arsenal he has in his rack. I love the loves me a tinkling pi-ana and was not disappointed. JK is just another thing altogether:) I'll just say right up front I think his playing is the real deal. I've had the philosophical discussions about a guy who has made his professional career "aping another mans solos" as I've heard.I defy anyone to listen to his solos from this show and say they were cribbed. He plays in the style of jerry but boy... He is Jerry the way you wish Jerry could havE been some nights. He was great on sunday:) Phil was huge and melodic. Great in the mix for me and the DL on archive (re)confirms that he is still the music genius that he is. He truly is the musical lynchpin on which this music hinges! Bobby was his pretty good too! Strong on tunes where he has lots of vocal bAckup (truckin') but pretty brutAl on tunes requiring range ( mission) I should say coming out of the show, mission was a big highlight for m but less enjoyable hearing it recorded. I've heard bob described as "shatnerizing" some of his vOcal selections, that may be harsh but his voice DOEs sound shot on the recording. His guitar Playing is still quite impressive and provided for nice interplay all night. I've seen 50+ original GD shows. I've seen one other post Dead project (The Dead with Joan Osborne) and I can say that this was a speciAl night. Other quibbles aside ( when are we gonnA hear the first "let john sing!" Chants?) I will echo KK's sentiments. Go see furthur!
  5. not sure if many are aware, but we've recieved a left and a right to the balls as live music lovers here in Kitchener..it was recently announced that The Lancaster Tavern (The Lanc) had been purchased and was being converted to a BBQ joint.. http://www.therecord.com/news/business/article/597964--lancaster-tavern-to-become-smokin-hot-barbecue-restaurant while i loves me some BBQ, i will sadly miss this venerable, and legendary music venue. i'd love to hear some of your memories from there. i know alot of great bands from our scene put on great shows there including one of the early Jambands.ca fundraisers:) a couple of my favorite nights were; Professer Louie and Crowmatics, Fat Cats(with Tyler Gibson on keys) and KingRoller, Mustashhat...too many fantastic nights and VERY sad to see this happen:( As if this weren't enough, we now hear that The Boathouse is set to close on Oct 23! WOW! this one just blows me away in its stupidity! i guess Kevin's negotiating with the city to stay operating during an upcoming dredging of the Victoria Park pond and a doubling of his rent have forced yet another great venue to close:( http://www.therecord.com/news/local/article/600616--boathouse-closing-causes-sparks there is a "save the boathouse" FB page as well: http://www.facebook.com/groups/225134307541063/ i'd encourage anyone who has seen and enjoyed their time at the boathouse to join the group, write a letter, attend the meetings if you can..let your voice be heard! we need MORE live music venues! a very sad time to be a music lover in kitchener:(
  6. agreed! very pristine sounding...i took all of them except the one copenhagen that i have a DVD copy of. that one is the bozo vs bolo show where they all (Jerry included) don clown masks during some point in the show:) awesome seeing jerry so animated trying to play while this crazy mask keeps slipping down his face (~);}
  7. freakin' awesome! that one is great too! keep 'em coming. my only limitation is the one put on me by being a free user on those upload sites (~);}
  8. i can imagine the amount of work this is taking to put these up but my "happy ears" are happy indeed! thank you sooooooo much Kanada Kev! i got everything so far, how could you NOT keep up?? absolutely LOVE the artwork that goes along with these discs too! thanks again:)

  11. Gregg will be playing slolo for 30 bucks in Victoria Park in Kitchener on August 4 if you need some Allmans fix...along with a pretty stellar lineup (imo) for a free festie the 3 days following Gregg's opener. jonny AND edgar winter, john mayall, jimmy vaughan, bill durst, are just some highlights. http://www.kitchenerbluesfestival.com/
  12. i figured this would be a good place to add to the whole virally nature to this guy's search for his stolen labor of love. i'm sure there's folks on here that are around enough musicians to help get the word out further:) http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/msg/2449158332.html protection/certification/guarantee. More info To the people who stole my Les Paul (Ladner/Tsawwassen) Date: 2011-06-18, 8:19PM PDT Reply to: sale-quajk-2449158332@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] To the people who stole most of my stuff out of my studio on June 5, including my main guitar of 43 years, let me tell you about it. It's a very altered, but very real 1953 Gibson Les Paul Model - Serial # 3 0621 (stamped on the back of the headstock) This is not a gold-top. In the 1950's, it was refitted with an ABR-1 bridge and stop tailpiece, and then refinished, all by Gibson. The green colour in the picture, (especially on the rear half of the body where the light reflection is less), is accurate. It's one of the lightest Gibson Les Pauls, and the only one of its' colour, that I've ever seen. I've made many other changes to this guitar in favour of playability: --changed the P-90's to humbuckers --had the neck thinned and it, the back and the sides were refinished --when it was refinished, the serial # was stamped in --replaced worn out machine heads with gold Gibson ones --added brass switch ring, jack plate, and rear cavity covers that were made for me by my now-deceased brother-in-law --added a truss rod cover with "Les Paul" on it --installed strap-locks (for obvious reasons) --there will be traces of violin bow resin in and under various parts. It is the best guitar ever for bowing. This is a one-of-a-kind instrument in so many ways. It is completely recognizable, down to every screw on it. I've been in the music business all my life, and have a large list of friends and contacts. With the help of countless amazing people, many who I don't even know, http://web.me.com/outgolfing/Equipment (which details what you took) has been sent across Canada and around the world to more people - musicians, music stores, pawn shops, studios, rehearsal rooms, and other musically related businesses - than I ever imagined possible. It's been passed around since you broke in, and is continually going out to more people. In fact, I'd bet people reading this will pass the link on to others if they already haven't. This will continue unendingly until I find my guitars and other equipment. My green Les Paul is already one of the most recognizable instruments in Canada, I can guarantee you that. Here's your scenario: --No collector will want this instrument because it's not even close to original. --No legitimate business will buy it from you. --Any creep who would knowingly buy a stolen guitar will give you a pittance for it. --If you keep it for yourself, you'll never be able to play anywhere with it, and it will tie you to the crime and to all of the other stolen equipment for as long as you have it. --You didn't even take the case. It's my most personal possession, and I have always planned for my son to have it one day. By the way, the other Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier head you took was his. It's not of much value to you, but to me, I can't buy another Les Paul like it because another one doesn't exist.. Here's a thought: Have some decency and redeem some karma. Bring my guitar back. You've fucked my studio up and stolen a life-time collection of my shit. You stole my guitar rig, which was MY sound that I've spent years achieving. You haven't ripped off a money making business. You've ripped off my life and my spirit immeasurably by taking away the tools of the pursuit of my passion. I've worked extremely hard for my whole life to earn my right to do so, and you took it all away in an hour or two. You've also ripped off my son, now, and in the future. I don't have the money to replace the gear, so it's just gone. Just give it back - NO QUESTIONS ASKED. PLEASE Maurice (604) 943-6160 (604) 816-8987 cel Location: Ladner/Tsawwassen it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests
  13. i'll be interested to hear more details about the "Tribute to the Last Waltz" as well.. very stoked for this festival! gonna be a good one.
  14. totally different bluesfest, but definitely a good rumour surrounding this one: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kitchener-Blues-Festival/89091900908 kitchener bluesfest has already announced: Johnny Winter Edgar Winter John Mayall Bob Margolin Pat Travers sadly Pinetop Perkins passed away recently.. and many more, ALL for free! now on to the BIG rumor! it has been repeatedly making the grapevine that KBF is in negotiations for...wait for it.... Greg Allman! so stoked if it's true! official final lineup announcement on April 1. the Greg Allman show will probably be for the special Thursday night gig in Victoria Park that i believe will be a seperately ticketed event but still part of the fun that is Kitchener Bluesfest. keep the weekend free, i think Bob at Shakedown has got some competition for his bash this year;)
  15. ....come on out for a bunch of new tunes and a great time!
  16. so , i was looking around for a particular english football match (arsenal v leyton orient) online and tried a site i had not been on for quite some time: http://www.rojadirecta.org/ imagine my surprise when i see 3 suitably imposing law enforcement crests saying "this domain name has been seized"? has anyone ever seen anything like this?

  22. hoping i'm not too late to snag this DL? i've had no luck finding it elsewhere so i hope someone may have a link... thanks in advance
  23. holy crap! ummmm thank you very much! thread page bookmarked* how long do these link last?
  24. definitiely agree with the above comments...especially Noosa and Byron. of course you should see Nimbin but i was disappointed a bit (although i did get nicely sorted there). i would HIGHLY recommend even just a day trip out to the Whitsunday Islands...whitehaven beach is one of the most magical places on earth as far as i'm concerned. 7 km of 98% pure silica sand beach that squeaks when you walk on it like that cool sound you get walking across really cold snow. i would even recommend doing a 3 day trip if you have the time http://www.prosail.com.au/contact.php these guys do it up right! awesome boats, and it's the best i ate the whole time i was down there. 6 meals a day on those boats and it's not an experience i will ever forget. prosail sails out of airlie beach. totally agree on the skip surfer's paradise. check out some of the outback if you can. i stayed on a sheep station and a 100,000 sq.mile cattle station that were real fun times. if your near a town called dingo, (between airlie beach and rockhampton) stay at the namoi hills cattle station. if macca is still there, he will get you drunk but listen to him. he has wise things to say. they have a hosteling setup there (with a bar) even out in the middle of the red desert.the hostels (every town has one) will be a good source of finding things like this. when you get to cairns, definitely spend a drunken night at the woolshed. if you don't hate abba by then (it is played everywhere there) or the grease soundtrack (also everywhere) you will be dancing on the tables all night (fully encouraged) at the woolshed. there is another bar just off the promenade who's name escapes me, that is pretty famous for it's foam parties. the inn on the beach in byron bay has best access to the beach of the hostels there... they also have thursday all you can drink sangria night (dangerous!!!) but for a really unique spot stay at the arts factory in byron. tipi's, covered wagons, geodesic domes serve as the dorms there. spend a night on the beach there watching the lighthouse go and watching the phosphorescent surf roll in.... word of advice when in australia..prepare to party! aussies love their beer (as if you didn't know that) a saying i got off a t-shirt down there that i love read: "i'd rather BE a good liver than have one" enjoy your trip! colour me jealous...
