  4. I made a concerted effort to search out more world music this year, stumbling upon several great albums Andy Palacio & The Garifuna Collective - Watina : From Belize, great haunting vocals with groovy polyrhythms Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni ba - Segu Blue – This West African / Malian group can really get that driving African grove going, and they’ve got some beautiful vocals to boot. Ali Farka Toure & Toumani Diabate - In the Heart of the Moon – From Mali, gorgeous acoustic album featuring the debe (also featured in Toubab Krewe), just beautiful. Anoushka Shankar & Karsh Kale - Breathing Under Water : I suppose the root of this album is East Indian, but it really covers the gamut from chamber music to electronic to rock to ballads with Nora Jones and Sting each guesting on a tune. One of those wonderful albums that truly defies genres I also discovered some great western music this year. I fell in love with the beautiful composition and soulful honest song writing of Sufjan Stevens. I also discovered Ben Gibard in all his forms (Death Cab, Postal Service); he’s really a great story teller. This was also the year of back catalogues for me. I rediscovered some of my favorite Slip tunes, and The Beatles, Bruce Cockburn and Paul Simon back in high rotation. I’m looking forward to investigating some of the artists listed here. I saw Rural Alberta Advantage at hillside this summer and really enjoyed their music. I’ve also felt the hook from Phoenix and Kings of Leon. Neko Case was one of my favorites at Bluesfest Thanks to all on this board for sharing their love of music, it’s our common thread.
  5. 1 have 40" LCD and a Blue Ray player, but no cable. I opted to put up an OTA Digital antenna (over the air). My TV has an OTA receiver built in, so I'm getting about 30 channels of HD via my antenna for free. (My antenna cost me $50. Most newer LCD & Plasma TV's have a built in OTA DTV receiver.) For those unfamiliar with OTA Digital, here's a layman's explanation. {Courtesy DigitalHome.ca} Analogue TV (also known as NTSC) is the original television standard in North America and it has served well for many decades but it is prone to many different kinds of interference that can make viewing troublesome for consumers. The new digital standard called ATSC (also known as DTV, for Digital Television) eliminates almost all of that interference. # broadcasting DTV requires much less transmitter power to cover the same area as analogue # for consumers the availability of High Definition TV via antenna is only possible by via DTV # the U.S. has converted their old analogue transmitters to DTV as of June 12, 2009. # Canada has set its date for full DTV conversion to August 31, 2011 # Canada uses the ATSC (8VSB) standard used in the U.S.A., Mexico, South Korea, and Taiwan, with more Western Hemisphere nations expected

  7. (954): I decided it would be a good time to smoke on one of my deliveries but then I got the munchies and ate a piece of the pizza I was freaking out so I told him it was our new pacman pizza
  8. just about spit my coffee all over the comp... (970): I locked my keys in my car in front of planned parenthood. I'm terrified of going inside to ask to borrow a clothes hangar. (303): Just tell them you need to fix a mistake real quick.
  9. we use the stroller all the time. we have a chariot for our girls, so half a dozen tall boys are no problem. At "IT" my buddy Steve, smuggled a 60 of CC, 2 x 2L of coke and a bag of ice in to the show by putting it in a garbage bag and pretending to be site staff while I distracted the security guard. That was a messy night...
  10. I think I saw KevO, in a 2009 Phish shirt. I was a little scattered but introduced myself as Jeff the lighting guy... FYI, bluesfest rocks.
