  1. cold-FX works for me every time. I may feel a little run down, but I don't get really ill
  2. Well said. I'm always on the lookout for the my next awesome band. It used to be that the jam was the main element that appealed to me, but now i belive that composition and great songwriting mean as much to me as improvisation. Recently Keith Jarrett & Sufjan Stevens have really drawn me in. The first with his improvisation and the second with his composition and songwriting. But I felt the need to chime in and defend my jamband roots. And say something disparaging about the Disco Biscuits.
  3. I have to agree with Jay, there are plenty of "Jambands" that have poor vocals (most notably the Disco Biscuits) but it does not follow that all Jambands suffer from poor vocals. How about Dave Mathews, Ben Harper, John Popper, Reid Genauer (Strangefolk & Assembly of Dust) and Nate Wilson and Joe Farrell (Percy Hill). These are all very good vocalists in bands that can really jam out. That said I'm willing to trade off vocals for jams, which I suspect is a common thread in this forum...

  5. My apologies, you didn't ask for a debate. I'll keep my opinion to myself. Enjoy the show.
  6. The Disco Biscuits play directionless poo. The members don't listen to each other and at best it comes of as electronic circus music. Umphree's is innovative, cohesive and boundary pushing; all things that the DB fail at.
  7. Could not pay me to go. Worst. Band. Ever. Now Umphrey's, there a band...
  8. Here are some of my shots from last nights show. Had a great time. BNB @ Lee's

  10. Soul Jazz was great. Apparently this band has been playing together for 7 years, how come I've never heard of them before? Picked up the album, which is pretty well produced. Real afrobeat sound. There are some funky guitar lines on the disk I would have liked to hear live. That said, they were really tight, as horns, keys, percussion and drums. I was annoyed to find that the cover was $15 at the door despite the fact that it had been advertised at $10. This was the case at Tobab Krew as well. I suppose I should expect it, but I'd appreciate more forthright advertising. It's not like we won't come, but I might decide to purchase advance tickets. The show was definitely worth the money, just be straight up with the info. Great effort pulling together this festival. If last night was any indication, there should be no problem making this an annual event.
  11. I'm gonna check out SOUL JAZZ ORCHESTRA tonight with a few buddies. I'll be the one dancing my ass off.
  12. You can suppress the adds on your end. If you use firefox, try an add on called Stylish. It works by superseding the css with local files. Here's the link http://userstyles.org After you've activated the plug in search for Yahoo Mail on the userstyles website and you'll be provided with several options to "clean up" yahoo. Good luck.
  13. Looks like I will be doing lights as a part of this show. Gonna step it up from the standard Lee's light rig to a proper New Deal show. Hope to see a bunch of you there.
  14. I'll be there on the lawn with my crew.
  15. The IT festival was shot in HD, I spoke to the jib operator at set break. All of the stuff that was on bittersweet motel was shot 35mm.
  16. Hey ya'll, I'm heading from Toronto to Detroit on Friday to the Umphrey's show at St Andrews Hall. Anyone need a ride? I've got space for two. PM me if you're interested.
