  5. I think the irony is that people like this should be shot. if everyone had a gun, the guy probably would of been shot, before so many could die. I'm fairly sure that would be more than compensated by the sheer increase in shootings that would happen. eg. that guy cut me off...bang. i wonder how all these activists who talk about 'freedom' and individual rights feel about pot laws?
  6. thanks for responding AD, much more personal than a website. i officially nominate you for bluesfest co-ordinator.

    PHISH

the return of momack...good to see your name, hope you are well. this thread got me thinking of phish, downloaded one of their videos for two bucks from their site....stash nov 95, good tune, however looks like they got the footage from a confiscated handheld.
  10. what a tragedy. guns are bad, and the world would be better without them. i have no idea why would they hold class with gunman/person on the loose. someone along the way either lost complete perspective or had some real irratinal thinking.
  11. hey eg, just so you know when i said negative after negative after negative ....i was not referring to the financial or other mishaps relating to evolve (i really am not that well connected in the 'scene' and my only info is from this board. in other words i take everything i read with not only a grain of salt but a shaker worth). rather i was referring to the constancy of luke making a post and the next 10 posts bashing him. it just gets too much. with that said as i mentioned in my first post, i do exclude you from that list, cause obviously if its a personal thing you SHOULD respond, and others who feel its personal should respond. i would do the same. just wish people who are not involved would not respond with such negativity. i hope, people would either ignore it, or try to help, albeit, once again, while maintaining, defending and preserving their own (and friends) credibility and truths along the way. hope i made sense. i'm big into communication and just wanted to clarify. a hug, from a phan of music to someone who helps disperse it, spencer
  12. just wondering, what did someone counterfit and how for that amount of cash? if the story should not be told on a public message board, no need to answer, just curious. as for 'the masses', if its not personal ie. like the response of evolveguy, why dont you just not respond? better than negative after negative after negative after negative after negative post. IT ALL GETS REPETITIVE. i think, without a doubt, my most negative post, dancingbear
  13. hey niplit, thanks for the link to grassroot deviation...they sound pretty good.... i am considering going, but those headliners dont really do it for me, would probably rather see money toward more homegrown bands be invited than 'big' names like brazilian girls.(sorry jaydawg).

    PHISH

i did not listen to them for years, but within the last eight months or so have been playing them consistently. i was at that niagra 95 show too! i'm not one to not remember things (seriously) but for some reason all i remember is part of the drive down and the old home place opener! i have a feeling they will tour again. sharing in the groove, dancingbear

  17. i think this is fantastic. addmitingly i probably forget to bring my bags with me aobut 70% of the time, so wish they would ban them here to! i think more towns should do this , and just say would you rather us ban bags or build a landfill in your community?
  18. Great pics and review, the effort and time definitely "shows",.......thanks. backbacon...2 festivals a year, thats fantastic! but we are starting a festival on the rock this year...'sprouting good vibes' to be coming to you late august sometime, and hence i can at least get one (overnight) festival in!
  19. good question. intuitively (sp?) i would say it at the very least has SOME effects. cause if ya can smell it it is there...on your clothes, on your sofa etc. but i think that would make an excellent study...ie. the risks i mentioned previously of people living in a smoking building. vs. those living in a smoke free building. point taken. however, i feel it should be up to the smokers to prove its safe BEFORE having the RIGHT to do it. kinda like the backwards system we have for food packaging etc. soemone has to prove it is unsafe...should in not be the reverse? ie. teflon.
  20. ollie, i hear what your saying about proof. however as having lived in an apartment, i do not find it a big extrapolation to see how smoke from one apartment can make its way into another. i still dont think the slope is very slippery. true if someone is frying bacon one might argure it affects their mental health, or their sleep etc, but smelling bacon to the majority will not harm someones health. as for noise, thats why most cities do have noise by-laws. i find it completely different when we are taling about a known carcinogen that could have direct, real, proven impacts on the health of a child. 1: Tob Control. 2003 Jun;12(2):189-9 preferences and practices among renters regarding smoking restrictions in apartment buildings.Hennrikus D, Pentel PR, Sandell SD. Division of Epidemiology, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis 55454, USA. hennrikus@epi.umn.edu OBJECTIVE: This study assessed renters' preferences for official smoking policies in their buildings and their practices concerning restricting tobacco smoking in their apartments. DESIGN: Renters (n = 301) living in large apartment complexes in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota, completed a mail survey. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The survey asked about the official smoking policies in place in their apartment buildings, their preferences for policies, whether they had smelled tobacco smoke coming into their apartments from without, and, if so, what they had done about it. RESULTS: The majority of non-smokers (79%) preferred that their building be smoke-free. When asked to identify the current smoking policy in their buildings, residents disagreed substantially. Most renters (60%) reported smoke-free policies in their own apartments and another significant proportion (23%) restricted smoking to certain areas or occasions or persons. 75% thought that enforcing a smoke-free policy for guests would not be difficult. [color:red]53% of those in non-smoking households had smelled tobacco smoke in their apartments; most of these reported being bothered by it. However, very few complained to the building owner or manager (15.5%) or to the smoker (6.9%). CONCLUSIONS: The majority of non-smokers preferred that their buildings be smoke-free. A failure to report problems to apartment managers might be an impediment to instituting smoke-free policies in apartment buildings. The considerable disagreement among residents within apartment complexes about the current official smoking policy in their buildings suggests that policies are lacking or are not well communicated. 21. wow. thats kind and considerate. as someone who deals with babies and children everyday who are subjected without any consent to second hand smoke and its negative side effects i feel rather strongly on this issue. the smokers should 'deal with it' as they have a choice. ie. they can smoke outside. but, a family cant live 'outside'. banning smoking from an environment IS not a slippery slope at all. things should be legal if you dont hurt another by doing it. if you do hurt someone then it should not be allowed. ie. smoking in your own stand alone home, with no one else there...fine. second hand smoke increases a babies risk for sudden infant death, ear infections, lung infections, reactive airway (asthma) exacerbations, and hospitalization rates. why should a CHILD have to deal with it?
  22. have not lived there in about 12 years...however last time i was back in went to 'steamers' in barhaven...great coffe shop, fair trade, and use REAL ice cream (in the summer only i think) to make their iced caps....mmmhh good. always enjoyed seeing bands at the mercury lounge. cozy kinda suave cool...is that still there?
