  1. this just in: there is no heaven, no hell. We made this shit up.
  2. First of all, I checked, and The Beatles are stil The Best Band Ever. Here's a delightful "article" about Paul McCartney. I can't decide if it's a joke or not. It's certainly one of the wirst written pieces I've seen in quite a while. For your amusement..... OGRE TYRANT PAUL MCCARTNEY (The real person)
  3. I've enjoyed everything I've ever heard from them and will get around I'm sure to checking out some more. Good songs, can't beat that! Saw Strangefolk once and they were excellent as well.
  4. I love how this thread turned out, thank you all.
  5. Not wanting this to be misunderstood, as I realize many of you have the patience, ambition and time to absorb a lot of new music, but I for one hate when listening to music becomes "work". When I start to get into an artist, I dislike (but appreciate the sentiment) when someone says "well, here's ALL their CDs, let me know what you think". Immediately, it becomes a chore to listen to them. I prefer a "slow burn" process to appreciating new (to me) artists.
  6. I'd say my average would be about three new titles per month. That's going into a CD store and buying it, I have never downloaded a track or album. So, I seem to have plenty of time to absorb new music, and over the course of a year, the collection grows steadily. Of course, once in a while I'll walk in and pick six new titles at once. Sometimes I grab "new" new music, other times it's a catalogue item. Live shows I'm really not that interested in anymore at all. In that case I maybe download a couple of shows every couple of months, whatever I grab on a whim. I usually burn them, listen to them once, and forget all about them.
  7. that's "The Best Thing I've Seen In 2007 So Far" for sure. I weep tears of joy. And gratitude! (might I suggest this forum could be renamed "Current Affairs" or "The Bouche Times" or such like. "Politics" seems to be outgrowing it's definition....."
  8. "Harry Hood" (to my mind THE Phish song, not YEM) was one of those funny songs that had a mini renaissance in the post-hiatus years. Not all of them are excellent, but most are, and they really took it to new places in this period. Try also Cincy 1999 for a "new" approach to a well-worn classic.
  9. might I suggest the sound of someone absent-mindedly humming ALL DAY LONG? welcome to my work hell.
  10. been a life long fan, she's the real deal. "Hejira" remains my favorite album of hers.
  11. mmmmmmmm...... man taco........
  12. A fine, fine band indeed.
  13. rocked the fish tacos tonight. Wasn't as successful as last time - the fish could have been cooked with a bit more care - but I just love them. I had 5!
  14. I believe some of them are factoring in the oodles of cash, but not all of them. The guys in Genesis, or Sting, for instance, are set. In those cases, I think the reunion impulse is genuine.
  15. Why do I need to like Oysterhead?
  16. I'm absolutely dumbfounded by this.
  17. The dude with the words "fart" and "420" in his name is telling someone else to think? I'll say whatever the fuck I want about anything I choose. Eat a bag of dicks.
  18. no Hall & Oates? fuggetaboudit!
  19. actually, after Live 8, Waters was gung-ho to do more with the others. Even said he would record with them again. It is Gilmour who wants nothing to do with a PF tour these days. Seriously!!!?! If it's not one thing it's another! Damn! hell Waters said THIS WEEK he would play again with Gilmour. "Sure, why not" was his answer! http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/410965/966993
  20. There really aren't any really great PF books. Nick Mason wrote one called "Inside Out", and while enjoyable, it's a white-washed account of the band, agreeable with not much juice. The late Nicholas Schaeffer had a book called "Saucerful of Secrets" which was ok as far as facts go, but rather poorly written. As far as where I hear about these matters, check earlier in the thread, I spelled it out. Obsessive types on message boards who notice these things, mainly.
