  1. C'mon Mike. It's just a saying. Do whatever you want.
  2. You can send your thoughts and prayers if you like. I don't believe in prayer, so positive feeling vibe works for me.
  3. My friend Al, as of last night, is doing ok. He's been working through all of this (Asahi Daily News), but is getting scared regarding the nuclear plant. And in typical Al fashion, he's pissed at the Japanese physicist "liars" and politicians, the latter he knows to be crooked. He's also been craving getting drunk due to stress.
  4. I'm not religious, so I'm sending out vibes to my best pal Alan and his young family in Tokyo - and vibes to Japan in general (my cousin David lives in Kyoto, but luckily he's in New Zealand; I have a few other friends there that I believe are doing ok). Al works for Asahi News and had to leave work in a rush early this morning due to the nuclear plant explosion. I haven't heard from him since, but it's late there. Al, me, Booche and Davey Boy are long-time friends and we all went to public and high school together and Davey Boy, Al and I grew up on the same cul-de-sac in Kingston. Our parents (minus my late father) are all still neighbours.
  5. The latter three are more in-lines with auto-racing.
  6. Although, Hal, those scientists from the Olympic committee list a dubious choice for agility, Derek Jeter, along with cheaters Marion Jones and Maurice Greene, plus "alleged" dopers, Lance Armstrong and Barry Bonds.
  7. Graham James deserves to be #1.
  8. And as of today, he's filed to come out of retirement.
  9. These guys are the truest athletes. Too bad darts wasn't more like this (love Rowan Atkinson's voice-over):
  10. Thanks Greg! Can't argue with the list, although I'd move some creeps up several places.
  11. Some do, many don't. All hockey players are not created equal and perhaps a fifth of the league are pussies. There are no pussies in football or rugby and every player, even kickers and QBs hit. Most football players are far bigger and hit on every play whereas many hockey players rarely if ever throw a bodycheck with any force of meaning. I'm pretty sure Kaberle threw one check during his Toronto days and Sundin may have thrown two good ones.
  12. I think drivers are brave to the point of crazy, but there's no way they are stronger, faster and can jump as high as most elite track athletes, skilled boxers, running-backs etc.. Perhaps in hand-eye co-ordination and in flexibility. I put downhill skiers in a similar "brave and crazy" category as drivers.
  13. I think that's too harsh. However, I think refs need to be more stern when they give fighters warnings and then take a point off when necessary. Points are taken off all for clutching (maybe not enough for everyone's liking) and/or not being active. But a badly hurt fighter should have the right to clutch, for safety sake and strategy (if they aren't out-matched).
  14. Hey Mark, I'm assuming that they didn't play another set because they aren't a jam band and thus aren't locked into the jam 2-set requirement.
  15. Eliminate the extra point in football; replace with 2-point conversion. Eliminate sudden death OT in the NFL.
  16. I used to be a fan of CART until the ugly and moronic split. I barely care about open-wheel IndyCar now. The damage was done years ago, although I'm pleased that NASCAR is on a slow decline.
  17. I'm more following what some insiders are worried about. Is growing the sport in those developing areas a good thing if it hurts the established core? When it comes down to it, fans in poorer countries can't afford to go to their own races. Maybe it doesn't matter? Anyway, I find F1's futrue interesting.
  18. It's not new that Bernie has been under the gun. It comes down to where he wants the market to grow. Is it better to have races on at insane hours (to NA/SA and western Europe). There's also longterm financial and cultural concerns with some of the newer host cities/counties. It's more like, be careful who you choose to hop into bed with. Just see the mess that is WC 2018.
  19. College basketball should eliminate the controversial alternating possession arrow and replace it with a jump ball, the rule the NCAA used to use until 1981 to decide a held-ball.
  20. Throwing the ball around after striking or throwing a batter out is more to do with routine and history. I agree that all mounds are different and warming up in an unnatural bullpen (often on turf or rubber) is alot different than a game mound. Eight pitches is about right. I used to be a F1 fan when I was younger. I'll give you that races have been getting more competetive in recent years, but time-trials are really boring as a televised event. F1 also has some troubles in terms of losing higher profile Grand Prix races held in Austria, France and the US (Bernie Ecclestone did not want to fail there). It's good for F1's profile in North American that they got back Montreal. There is worry amongst the teams suggested by folks at Raceline Radio that having races in countires such as Bahrain, Singapore and UAE is bad for the growth of the sport.
  21. aka me? I'm not really too keen on live comedy. Watching comedy on TV is just as good as being there in person' date=' IMO. Hope you had a blast though ...[/quote'] I've always enjoyed going to a comedy show. It's great seeing comedians feeding off the audience, and vice versa. I saw the Sklar brothers in San Fran last September and they were fucking hilarious. I saw Robin Williams do a surprise improv routine at my wife's pub and it was killer, and I'll never forget it. Nice guy too. I was considering staying home that night too.
  22. I wish this were a new rule: the outright ban of F1 time-trials for TV broadcasts. It just may be the most boring sports-related event ever produced. F1 itself is marginally more entertaining. No matter though because the "sport" is on a decline.
  23. All good changes. I'd also like fouls in the NBA called regardless of what team you play for or what name is on your back.
  24. Fans in some sections of the ACC booed Gaga because of the delay, according to CP24 and the Star etc... Whatever. I'd probably have a good time there too, as long as I brought earplugs or my mp3.
