  1. I respect your opinions bokonon, but you simplify and generalize your argument regarding women's equality in North America. For example, in the working world, glass ceilings still exist - don't forget about Mexico when referring to North America. In fact, in some states, women are still not paid equally to their male counterparts. Women still need to fight the good and essential fight. Women are still beaten down every day, whether verbally and/or physically and many remain silent and/or feel helpless. I find International Women's Day a necessity.
  2. The Dundas-Yonge area is a tourist and teenage trap full of decadence, chain-stores and dives. However, if you walk north to College, you will find a decent and big sports bar called Hoops. Keep walking north on Yonge for more pubs and restaurants. Go west on Dundas for Chinatown. If you head south on Yonge to Front for the Hockey Hall of Fame. Also check out Front and Church (just west of the Hall). Their are some great pubs and restaurants like C'est What. Oh yeah, anything east of Church Street on Dundas is really, really sketchy. The corner of Dundas and Sherbourne and Dundas and Jarvis can be flat out scary. Stay north, south and west young man.
  3. It's a cheap and central hotel. It's old so don't expect too much. It's right near Ryerson too. You may want to hit up the iconic original Sam The Record Man, just one block north of Bond on Yonge Street. It's huge with some excellent prices. Across the street from Bond is the Imperial Library Pub. It's a great place. Downstairs is kinda divey (with a really cool bar), but upstairs is really cool, with an old jukebox that plays rare 45's from jazz greats. You can also get bottled beer by the quart for a good price. They also make the best whiskey sours I've ever had.

    Dave Lauzon?

Wouldnt that put you out of work? Best zinger of the day.

    Dave Lauzon?

Hey Jared, I'll trade you my Passenger SPAM for a Dave Lauzon.
  6. It's Dundas East. Hey, if you are down CD shopping on Queen Street West, go to Crimial Records on Queen, just west of Spadina. It's a really cool store with tons of legit rock shirts and excellent CD prices.
  7. I'm not in awe of Ann Coulter.

    Dave Lauzon?

Ya, who the hell is "them" Dave Lauzon anyway?
  9. Another good thing about these kind of shoots is the food. You'll be fed for the whole shoot and beers probably will be flowing at the end of the day - although I'd kick those grips, PA's and lighting guys the hell out.
  10. #96 is The Clash's London Calling. I'm thinking Never Mind The Bollocks should be in the Top 20.
  11. Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, I don't think the Allmans made the list. Hmm, that makes tons of sense, especially when Skynyrd makes the list. The Allmans only created a genre, was one of the top grossing touring bands of the 70's and have five multi-platinum albums under their belts and are members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
  12. It's not as vanilla flavoured as previous lists, but of course it is still open to criticism. What? No TSOOL! Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Tops List Of 200 Most Influential Albums Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the hugely influential recording by The Beatles, has been dubbed the most essential album ever made, but an association of music retailers. The U.S. National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) released its 'Definitive 200' list, and the 1967 disc by the Fab Four made top spot. In second, Pink Floyd's 1973 classic, Dark Side of the Moon. Rounding out the top five were Michael Jackson's Thriller, Led Zeppelin IV, by Led Zeppelin, and Joshua Tree by U2. The Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street just missed the top five, coming in sixth overall. Among the newer albums to make the Definitive 200: Norah Jones's 2002 album Come Away With Me, which hit #27, Outkast's Speakerboxx-Love Below (2003), which arrived at #29, and Green Day's American Idiot (2004), which came in at #61. Choosing which albums made the cut came down to representatives from music retailers as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DEFINITIVE 200 FINAL RANKED LIST RANK ARTIST TITLE YEAR 1 BEATLES SGT. 17. I think the Raptors have been reading and believing their press-clippings. Their defense has been terrible and their rebounding is pathetic. Four of the last five games have been over at the half. It's no coincidence that their recent strugles coincide with Anthony Parker's injury. He's the glue of the team - yes I know Bosh is their best player, but Parker brings maturity and stability, plus he makes key shots and plays great defense. I hope that their diet of humble pie will fuel them to a victory tonight.
  18. Hey Rider, be sure to check out The Black Market for vintage clothes. It's located across the street from MuchMusic - actually on the north-west corner of Queen & John beside the Pages bookstore. It's a really good store with all kinds of cool concert and vintage pop art t-shirts, jackets, sunglasses, pins, buttons etc... Maybe you'll even run into me. I work tomorrow at Much.
  19. The video clip and overblown media coverage may be the best thing that could have happened to those kids.
  20. Open blues mic at The Silver Dollar - hosted by Danny Marks. The Rex for jazz. Check Now Magazine.
  21. All you have to do is ask the dude what company he works for and a number to call - you can easily check out the company on the internet too. If the shoot needs exteriors, then they'll hire a plain-clothes cop will working too.
  22. Get some names and make some calls. Get on this. Commercial shoots are easy money.
  23. I also wash and re-use zip-lock bags - all of the different types. Why would anyone throw out a bad after one or two uses. It's a waste.
  24. If it's legit, they'll pay you well.
