  1. I just got two tickets for the Tuesday show, floors non-obstructed. ORDER BY PHONE THROUGH MASSEY HALL!
  2. I find the west end busier than the east. For noise I'd also avoid the Yonge & Eglinton region, although Davisville is pretty good. Riverdale is quiet, other than the streetcar noise. Even the DVP doen't bother me since Riverdale Park is an excellent noise buffer.
  3. I think both shows sold out within 20 minutes. I couldn't get through and I'm still trying via phone.
  4. I'm glad you checked them out Andrew. They are revered in their genre. I like them and want to hear more.
  5. I live on The Danforth (Broadview and Danforth) in a great apartment building. The neighbourhood is extremely healthy and vibrant and The Danforth is tough to beat for food, parks and shopping (plus the pubs are generally excellent). The best parts of Danforth to live in are between Broadview and Jones (even Donlands). The further east you go the sketchier it gets, particularily Danforth and Coxwell, Greenwood or Victoria Park. Cabbagetown is great in the day but scary at night. Bloor West and the Roncesvalle areas are cool, but way the hell west. I like Little Italy. I'd personally live there as my second choice. Leslieville is an up-and-coming area too. I lived five years at Bloor and Yonge, five at Gerrard and Church and two in Kensington Market. I have friends from all parts of Toronto and wouldn't switch places with them - I've been in Riverdale (Danforth) for three years and I won't move.
  6. I forgot to record tonight's episode. Last week's episode directed by Joss Weadon ( Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Serenity) was great!

  13. I don't have any desire to get satellite radio. The jam station you mentioned would be a rip-off and would drive me nuts. I listen to sports radio and news mostly plus the CBC, so satellite radio would be a waste of money.
  14. I thought they were pretty good at the Grammy's. They certainly looked good and healthy and genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves.
  15. This is from today's New York Post: February 18, 2007 -- IT was Sting's brilliant idea to bring The Police back together for their 30th anniversary, sources say, despite interviews he and band members Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers gave suggesting it was a mutual idea. One music-industry heavyweight tells Page Six: "Sting worked on Stewart and Andy for six months trying to get them to agree to tour. They didn't really want to at first. It's not like they need the money. They're set for life off of the royalties alone. "But for some reason, Sting was insistent, telling them how much money they all could make," the source said. To sweeten the deal, Sting "assured his former bandmates they could not only pick the song list for the tour, but that the three would share equally in profits - whereas in the past, Sting always got a higher percentage because he was the frontman. "They finally agreed," our source said, and the group decided to kick off their reunion tour with an opening performance at the Grammys of "Roxanne." But Copeland and Summers apparently didn't realize what they had signed on for. "Andy and Stew thought they would just do the old rock version of 'Roxanne,' " our insider said, "but when they showed up for sound check, Sting had created this weird, jazz-blues version of the song, and they kind of freaked out." Sting insisted that his version was better and sang the unexpected rendition of the 1978 hit at the Grammys - to almost everyone's dismay. "It was hideous," said one music executive. "Lets hope the whole rest of the song sets for the tour aren't like that." The worldwide Police tour will net the group $175 million. A rep for Sting referred us to interviews the band has given about their tour. In Variety last week, Sting said: "We fought because we cared passionately about the music. We're still fighting, but . . . we're a bit more wise." Copeland added in the same interview: "I just like playing my drums and following Sting's lead. We don't have an agenda now."

  20. Townshend makes it to the top for me because the memory still resonates over the years. My #1 show from the last 5 years is MMJ at The Opera House in 2004 with The Soundtrack Of Our Lives kicking my ass at the same venue from 2003 being a close second. Screw you cock-juggler.
  21. It'll be streamed live from NPR: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/41020/Exclusive_Arcade_Fire_to_Rock_NPR#
  22. Without thinking hard about it, Pete Townshend at Massey Hall, Saturday July 10, 1993. It was the first concert kick-starting Townshend's Psychoderelict tour. The show was over three hours long and even the rock theatrical mid section of the show held my interest. I still can't believe I was so close to one of rock's greats in one of the best venues in the country. Given Townshend's star was still shining fairly brightly commercially only added to the vibe (although that album eventually ended up ruining his solo career - he's never done another studio solo album). This show was a number of years after The Who's 'FINAL' 25th anniversary tour in 1989. Setlist Cobwebs And Strange, Face The Face, Eyesight To The Blind, Misunderstood, Corrina, Heart To Hang Onto, A Quick One While He's Away, English Boy, Meher Baba M3, Let's Get Pretentious, Meher Baba M4, Early Morning Dreams, I Want That Thing, Outlive The Dinosaur, Meher Baba M4, Flame (Demo), Now And Then, I Am Afraid, Electronic Wizardry, Don't Try To Make Me Real, Predictable, Flame, Meher Baba M5 (Vivaldi), Fake It, Now And Then (Reprise), Baba O Riley (Demo), English Boy (Reprise), Let My Love Open The Door, A Little Is Enough, Behind Blue Eyes, Keep Me Turning, I Am An Animal, You Better You Bet, Rough Boys, Pinball Wizard, Magic Bus Lineup included (notice the bassist): Pete Townshend Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Guitar John Bundrick Keyboards Andy Fairweather Low Backing Vocal, Guitar Peter Hope-Evans Harmonica Pino Palladino Bass Phil Palmer Guitar Simon Philips Drums
